I really admire how you do the metallics! The gold looks so real!

Thanks for the praise once again guys :)

I got a little bored of painting the gold on the elves, so I've been painting through other core troops from both MT and Rohan. Don't worry too much about the Elves though, there has been minor progress on them too.

Hopefully the highlights on the Rohan Spearman aren't too subtle.

Finally, I'm trying to figure out which hero I should paint first to show at least SOME progress in To9G...which one?

- Haldir
- Gildor
- Galadriel

I have no idea which one to start so your input would be swell!

Cheers!

Nice work John. I envy your clean style of painting. But am far too lazy to try and emulate it.

As for the Elves, well, they are Elves and as such are unworthy of commentary... :P Still, I'd like to see Gildor first, as it's a mini that isn't shown very often.

:-D

Great work on those lot, the armour on the MT warriors is just awesome! Galadrial is probably the easier of the 3 to paint, so I'd choose her 8)

Thanks for the praise once again guys :D Both elves are progressing well at the moment, details are being picked out, and I'm up to highlighting quivers and arrows and skin on the archer for the moment.

@Sean: The cloak was done as so:
1.50:50 mix of ShadowGrey and Chaos Black
2.75:25 mix of ShadowGrey and Chaos Black
3.Shadow Grey Highlight

thats it in a nutshell, but I did a lot more layers.

Ok, I'm setting a small challenge for myself - paint 2 orcs in 2 hours. Using all the sneaky batch painting tricks possible but to still make them neat and presentable!

Here are the orcs with primer!

Update shall come soon!

Awesome to see what you can do in only two hours time!

I remember I painted my first figs in an hour or so and though, OMG, this is taking a long time to finish one single figure...

These days it's slightly different, I wouldn't know how far I get in an hour, or wouldn't have an idea what I could make of it in this little time.

You've done a great job on them mate! 8)

Although I'm not nearly at your standard of painting, batch painting is what I'm best at! lol,
I can churn out a box models in a few hours to an OK standard, then finnish them off fully later (with all the highlites and stuff).

But I do like to take my time on the heroes and banners.

Still keep up the good work 8)

Wait, how many batches of 2 did you do? Where are the 12 or so fully finished ones?

:P

John, would you like me to send you a bigger brush? Write an article?

I need to knock this neatness and presentation out of you somehow...

:-D

@Viktor: Yeahh, haha I wasn't happy with it after the two hours so I just ended up painting the pair normally :P
@Azure: Well you'll definately be able to participate in more WoTR games than me thats for sure! I think batch-painting is more a gift than anything, being able to sit down and excercise some extreme discipline!
@Bart: Totally agree with you mate. This was a once in a lifetime experience, I probably won't be trying it again! Back in the day it was easy cause you'd only have a limited knowledge, but now... :?
@John: Dude, your just jealous, lets leave it at that haha...those 12 or so finished ones are...somewhere....else...

...yes

Oh and the final product after an extra hour or so. I hate orcs - so hard to tie down a colour scheme. Damn their rabbliness!

I'm impressed, you've managed to finish those 2 off so quickly however batch painting means groups of models not pairs
:P

I think your using that term too freely lol, what's next on the agenda?

Hehe...yeah next time I won't false-advertise, promise!

In any case, almost finished Aragorn - there's still some more highlighting needed on the front areas of the cloak, his glove needs highlighting, and the straps on the boots need some TLC as well. Actually I might highlight the hair a little more as well.

In any case, here he is:
