The German invasion of Poland in 1939 was a desperate race to retrieve the wreckage of a crashed spacecraft before the Russians could do so. Once safely back inside the Reich, German scientists began to explore the wonders of this alien technology and to apply it to create new and terrible weapons of war.

In the meantime, the Americans have convinced Nikolai Tesla to develop several new experimental weapons that use his electron discharge technology.

In the East, the Russians have been conducting secret experiments of their own aimed at developing psychic powers into battlefield weapons.

The world is still at war in 1946 and the beachheads of Normandy and Italy have been stalled. Allied air power is still creating havoc inside nazi Germany, but the new superweapons of the Reich have begun to take effect. The V4 rocket, capable of reaching New York or Chicago, is systematically destroying the covilian populations of the Free World. And frontline GI's are reporting hideous genetic monstrocities amongst the regular German troops...

Thus the stage is set for AE-WWII, a 'weird war' game by Darkson Designs. I have been caught up in this genre and cannot wait to have a go at this game. The backstory is a lot of fun, the models are excellent and the game play seems to be easy and quick to learn.

Here's a sample or two of their models:

Lot's of wacky world war two weirdness.

This is really cool, the Darkson Designs range of miniatures for this game are fantastic and the ruleset isn't half bad either. I haven't actually bought the minis or the rules yet but i have seen it played and had a go myself and think this is one of the best games of this type out there.

I have the rulebook on order from Spectre Hobbies and it should arrive within a few days, so I'll be able to give you a first-hand opinion.

I have always been fascinated by WWII and sci-fi, and the ability to combine the two in one game is fantastic.
