Very nice Red Corsairs :D
I was just wondering whether you'll paint the other parts of the helm a different colour as there are two parts to the helm.
I'm glad my WIP thread is inspiring someone

Very nice work mate, I love the shield. I really must have a go at some of these myself some time.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

NL, I decided that for the warriors I thought i was going to see how I liked them with just one colour for the helmet and I quite like the result.

Just a small update here, I have finished the base of the second warrior and I think it brings out the model itself but I'll leave that for you to decide

Much better pictures :D
I guess you could say that the Dunlendings were not skilled craftsmen and would just construct simple helmets. Either way they look good.

Nice job Jake ! They look very cool, however I think something like a 'Dark Flesh' base rim would finish them off nicely, just a suggestion !

From one of your first pictures it looked like you had part of a Dunlending Chieftain in the background. Am I right? The display base is looking nice.

:D Very nice painting on the scale armour and shield. Why do these guys remind me of Vikings?!

These Dunlendings are very much based on Dark Ages warriors - they could be almost any of the northern european cultures such as Saxons, Goths, Norse, from the period 450 - 1100AD. Vikings - yes, they could be that too.

They are more tatty and dishevelled that the Rohirrim (who were like late Saxons with a bit more 'bling' and more horses) - hence the nickname 'armoured angry tramps', sometimes applied as PJ really only showed us the poorest od the Dunlendings in the Two Towers (nicknamed the 'angry tramps').

I prefer these minis to the original GW Dunlendings - they are a more serious set of opposition to Rohan, a more credible threat when allied with Uruk-hai and orcs working for Saruman.

Nice painting; I have just been assembling my 'armoured angry tramps'. Lots of detail there to 'play' with!

Ok, Numernorean Lord geussed it was coming, and here it is. I have done the Chieftain and it is now onto it's display base. I have made it so that the chieftain is removable so that I can easily game with him and the model that gets displayed is changeable but I think it'll be this mini for a while because I like it :D . Anyway, here he is:

As always comments/criticism is welcome.

Not been able to do much painting recently and probably won't do as much for the rest of the week either but I have done a little bit on the next warrior. Sorry bout the first pic here but there will be a better pic next time I update the thread with pics.

The cloak

Image

I have also chose to go for a darker skin tone on the rest of my Dunlendings as I prefer it on these minis. Heres an example, only done this arm at the moment

Thanks,

Jake

Very nice army, as I've said on TWC.

A suggestion (well, another one, I guess  ) would be, when you drybrush the sand colors on the sand of the base, drybrush the edges of the cloak with the same colors as well to give a nice weathering effect to the robes. It worked very nicely for my Aragorn and other rangers (erm...multiple Aragorns :? ).

I have been stopped from doing my Dunlendings due to these nasty little creatures... Corsairs

Ok, you might have expected me to do some Red Corsairs but after testing with different ways of doing a Red colour scheme I decided not to do Red Corsairs and stuck to the GW scheme. I have also finished the Captain and Bo'sun (one of them might be in the Harad Painting Competition). I was happy with them myself but i'll see what you guys think;)

Comments/criticism welcome;)
