LOL! when i first saw the 2nd pic (the howdaw) I thought it was a boat. your table looks like water effects at fiist :D

That's funny, it does look like a boat. That must be a picture of my Mumak in very deep water.

Anyway, that isn't a table, its a "tumbling mat" in my basement that was conveniently close to the wall sockets for me to plug in my lamps.

I realized I didn't post a picture of all Woses after they were based and got their war paint, so better late than never, here they are:

Nice Woses you got there mate!!!

The Mumak! Cool! Looking forward to see it's progress! I've started assembling him aswell, but untill now, it took me 5 days to add greenstuff etc... And still, the two bodyparts aren't attached yet!
Anyway, goodluck with this little pet! ;)

Thanks for all the great comments on the Woses Warriors.

Now back to the War Mumak of Far Harad. Here's an update. The Mumak is just about ready to be primed:

As you can see, I've added tusk weapons, broken a tusk, and repositioned the head. I had to sculpt an entire new neck. Not sure how I feel about it but I think it works for you.

I think I've got all the major joins covered in greenstuff. Last things to finish are the upper supports for the Howdah tower and the supports that the Mahud Beastmaster sits on. The most work left is that I'm going to have to completely rework the Beastmaster's "balcony" as the head reposition doesn't make it possible as is.

Oh yea, here's a picture of a Mumak's butt.

the Mumak was my second or third 'mini' I had painted. I sold it on ebay last year as it looked like a second painted mini ;-(.
now I totally regret that. I want to do one again!
Seeing all your tedious steps, I remember them all again.
but you're doing so much more professional, of course!
and I'm happy to follow this thread.

Thanks for all the great and inspiring comments. Here's an update for tonight:

Here are the latest images. My Mumak is sooooo close to being ready to prime. I keep finding little things to tweak.

I built up the back to make him taller and to allow the Howdah to fit level. The white-ish stuff is called Fixit Sculpt made by Aves studio, its two part epoxy that drys rock hard and is less flexible than greenstuff. Its cheaper but is just as "sculptable" for these bigger areas.

Image

If you look closely you can see how I split the steering platform in two and then straighted it out. I put a magnet (actually 2) inside the greenstuff on the steering platform so that I can balance a Mahud Beastmaster easily on the platform.

You can also see that I'm going to be covering up the dead Rohan (as a Rohan general, I can't bear to see so many dead ones :P ). I'm going to go with a more Far Mahud textured base. According to the White Dwarf (and I'm sure the Harad Supplement), the Far Mahud region is a grassy plain and home of the original Mumakil. I was thinking it would be a sandy desert, but that wouldn't support all the "wicker" armor the Mahud sport. So I'm going with a grassy plain like the Magazine said

Here's a picture with the Howdah placed on it to give you an idea how how it will look:

Image

I think I'm going to have to build up more supports to make it look acceptably balanced on the hump of a mumak like that.

Oh yea, and before you ask, yes I'm wondering why I just didn't go for a standard build

Great work BrentS!
All these "little" tweeks make this a really fantastic project.

Keep up with the good work. ;)

I can't wait to see this finished, Brent, looks very promising, and I like the position you've put the head in. Looks like one charging from the film!

Thanks everyone, progress is being made slowly. I really want to finish the modeling so I can start painting :)

That is "blu-tac" or sticky-tack. Its used in the US to hang posters and pictures and things on the walls. I haven't permenantly attached the Mumakil to the base so I use the blu-tac to keep it steady. He's probe to toppling over once I put his head on his body.

When I finally get round to this beasty for myself (around 2034), tusk spikes is definately the way to go !
Please dont take this the wrong way, I think you have done a very good job, however Green Stuff would not be my preferred medium ! .. it looks too 'thick' ? (IE: thats a very 'thick' rope for the miniature scale), I guess I would counter-sink the spikes by drilling pilot hoiles and then add the rope by wrapping something like 'Fishing Wire' around them ?

Other than that, still think you are doing a great job and look forward to seeing this beasty come to life !
