Hey Nathan,

I was looking at a dragon I bought from Reaper Miniatures and noticed that the neck connecting to the jaw is bare. I think yours looks great, a little detail is better than none lol :D

But anything that you change can only get better

Keep at it

I honestly see nothing wrong with that head. I have been poking around looking at pictures of dinosaurs and reptiles to see what might come closest, but so far nothing that I am really happy with - they are either too familiar or insufficiently intelligent and elegant.

Head size and shape looks ok to me too. I think you have it about right. :)

Ditto!

You mentioned that you weren't happy with the way the neck and head come together; what makes you unhappy?

Cheers

I think its just the left hand side of the head, where the neck and jaw meet. The jaw needs some more work.

OK, here are a few shots to give you an idea of scale, as promised.

It appears that dwarf is on the menu.

More in due course.

The dragon is starting to breathe.

Ohhh wow that is very nice, the scale is prety much perfect if you ask me. Btw i found a prety good way of making wings, sheet copper. The stuff is realy thin and can be bent ito any shape you could then cut holes in it if you wanted (battle torn wings) and then sculpt over it.

The size of it makes it look even better, and the pose is exactly correct, which is just as important as the sculpting itself. I look forwards to seeing more progress on this one :D

I love the size of the model. It's not so big that one arrow, in the right place, couldn't do him in... :)

I think the shape of the head is just right, but you're the artist, what we say don't matter.

My favorite part oddly enough is the eyes! Perfect shape and size, you can already almost see their inner glow.

What if we don't like dwarf meat? Too rubbery.

Great work so far, as everyone is is saying and now you've done a scale shot we can really see the proportions. Can't wait to see the wings finished!

If I said that I want one of those wondrous flaming magnificences you would know that to be a abysmally dreadful lie. OK, two... for now...

(Dorth counts Smaug, Ancalagon, Glaurung, Scatha, The Green Dragon - oops, that's an inn...)

Wow he's bigger than I expected, you have your work cut out :) The size of the dragon in comparison to dwarves looks great, especially for a huge dragon like Smaug.

Any ideas on how to go about doing the wings yet? You could always buy a pair of Balrog wings  lol

You've don an awesome job on this sculpt, the amount of detail you put in is fantastic, the last time I checked this thread it was it its very first stages, its really great to see how this project has come together so well.
But you've done an incredible job, I can't wait to see it finished.

The details look great and I think you're spot on with the scale and the scales. ;)

Cheers
