I really like all three Fellowship members you've painted. They look very similar to their movie counterparts and have nice clean paint jobs. As others have rightly pointed out, the Balrog looks sensational! You really nailed the fire effect (which is no small feat) and I think this one looks a lot closer how it does in the movie than most versions I've seen (where the fire doesn't look intense enough). Very inspiring work, Rognarr! :yay:

Thanks everybody, I'm glad that you like the Balrog so much. I learned a lot when I painted it and I'm glad that it turned out in way I actually do like too! ;)

In other news here are some Uruks! Hope you like them :)

Very nice - Weird that we both posted at the same time :)

I am guessing that like me you jumped at the chance to buy these when they came back into stock after Christmas :)

Ugh it's been so long again and although I had these fellas finished on my painting table for months now I couldnt be bothered taking photos. Damn you, motivation! ><
But anyway, here they are finally: Éowyn, Merry, Háma, two Royal Guards and Gamling! (and talking abot motivation: That Gamling was painted years ago, as you maybe can tell by the different skin colour, but just got his base done a few weeks ago. Poor guy ^^ )

Apparently I'm not the quickest painter.. I had started painting Gamling in May, finished him in September after a break and only now managed to take pictures of him.
Fortunately I was a lot quicker with the fivefold Éomadness (if you don't pay attention that the spearbearing conversion was in my "pile of shame" for almost around a decade >< )
But still, the road goes ever on and on :)

My first try of scenic photography: Five of 'the Nine' from the attack on Weathertop.
The two Nazgul in the front are my newest additions to my ringwraiths.

Very nice! You definitely have the well painted models to do scenic photography! Taking scenic shots vs wip shots is much harder. Some hints that might help - have your models you are taking a picture of on a raised platform, doesn't have to be much but enough so you aren't taking a picture downward so the bases aren't showing, or use some cropping so they look less like figures on a base vs characters in a scene.

And yes, I don't always follow my own advice. :D

Thanks GreatKhanArtist, I wish I had painted the blue highlights, but they are actual highlights from a blueish light >< :D

Also I thank you for your tips Mapper! I will try that the next time :)

So here we are now, the last few hours of this weird year...

I managed to finish a last few miniatures this month, so this year wasn't that unproductive at all ( ~70 models painted, I'm quite surprised that it were so many after all, including a Balrog)

Without further ado, here they are:

Old Tom Bombadil and Goldberry

Paralyzed Hobbits in the Barrows
Image

Merry and Pippin in Fangorn
Image

Bill the Pony with Sam
Image

Aragorn and the Hobbits (from the Attack on Weathertop set)

and last but not least Aragorn on horse (they shall get some finishing touches though)

Excellent work all around as usual! I like the OSL on Goldberry and putting rocks underneath the captured hobbits looks really sharp too! While I know I've said this before, you did an excellent job basing all of the minis above. I especially like how Merry and Pippin look with the flock and leaves!

Rognarr, the light effect on Goldberry is superb, I have never dared trying that before! Can see it on back of Strider too. I'll have to give it a go when I get round to those models. How did you make the leaves on Merry Pippin?

The Old Theoden Denethor conversion from previous pages is class, did you sculpt the beard and crown on?

Very nice stuff!

Lighting on Goldberry is superb, and I love the stone slab bases for the paralysed hobbits!

Thanks for the compliments guys! :)
I thought those two models definitely deserved OSL, so I just gave it a try. And even If it's not perfect, it worked. If you like, I can take a picture of Aragorns backside..?

The leaves on the bases are made out of birch seeds. Just collect them in summer or autumn, they work great as miniature foliage!

Beard and crown for old Theoden are sculpted with green stuff, I think I even had to cover a bit of chainmail back then. But it all was fairly easy done.

It got rather quiet here and over the summer I was rather lazy, painting-wise. Recently I found motivation again and finished Legolas and Gimli on horseback, a miniature that I purchased years ago in a very bad state on ebay.
I also used that occasion to paint another mounted Legolas. Furthermore some of the new Forgeworld Crebain, the Witch-king of Angmar and Khamûl.

the same miniature, when I purchased it:
