Khamul the easterling just announced on Warhammer community! Released in the new year. Really nice sculpt- can’t wait to see more nazgul!

Aye! I imagine they'll get new profiles and such, but I would love to see mounted versions. Preferably cast separately from the horses so we could plop them onto a Fell Beast? Ahh, tis but a dream!

They already have new profiles - they're the Dol Guldur Nazgûl in the There and Back Again book. No mount options for them (they just fight the White Council there and then).

I love the individual designs for the Nazgûl but to be honest I think this miniature looks a bit odd. His arms, head and weapon look too big for his body. Maybe not too much in the front view but in the second picture where you see him from a side angle:

And strangely the horns seem to only be structured on the front side.

I think the slightly oversized weaponry works ok when you apply it to the nazgul - remember Return of the King and the Witch King’s flail? It fits with the films aesthetic

I like him pretty well personally, even though generally I have disliked a lot of The Hobbit designs (though that's more a movie Studio thing than a GW/ FW thing). I think he looks suitably wraith like and enjoy the Easterling influence to his helmet and armor.

I think he looks wonderful, reminds me of The Knights Who Say Ni.

I dont like it at all. It could have been good 10 years ago, but if you compare it to the new releases by Forge World (like the trolls, the berserkers or Thranduill...) it looks amateurish. The pose is just too static. His arms too big and its too bulky. His neck is so twisted.
One thing is for sure, it really fits the Lotr miniatures that were released after the first movie. But for today standards it doesnt look like a Forge World miniature at all or a miniature goin to be released on 2018. For sure it has to continue the style or look of the rest of the miniatures in line but not look like, as i said, something from 15 years ago.
In my opinion the lastest releases from Forge World doesnt have the same quality as the first ones. The kids of Bard doesnt even look like in the movie and their facial expressions are too "toony".
For sure i wont pay what they are going to ask for this miniature. There are far better proxies.
At least this is my opinion.

He looks a bit off (the weird proportions reminds me of the last alliance elrond). Not as good as the old one but he isnt even close to as bad as bards kids.

I'm glad they are still releasing stuff but I wish some of it would be from GW and not Forgeworld

I like it. I'm surprised though that these wraiths are not all going to be released together as a package.

We don't know for sure how they will be released, just been the first preview of Khamul so far.

I don't think they'll be sold solely as a 9-figure set simply because it would be terribly expensive. Could be like Thorin's Company, packs of 3, also depending on whether they do different sculpts for the two(?) duplicated ones. And whatever way they package them, I'm sure there will be a bundle with all 9 (probably without any discount :D).

While I was hoping for more dynamic poses, Adam Troke on Warhammer Live just mentioned the poses will be where they were in the film, all lined up around Sauron. He also showed the next three nazgul, the Witch King, the Dark Headsman and the Slayer of Men. Not a very good view, but should have a better picture up on Warhammer Community soon. It is a shame that they will be static poses when The White Council: Vanquishers of the Necromancer are dynamic.

I think the pic should come back. It was from an officially published, widely released GW magazine.

Some fans have argued that the Hobbit sculpts are too dynamic and not true to the line. For those folks, these guys will be perfect. Too bad there are no horse models to replace the original named ringwraiths. I never bought the original Khamul, but I'd love to play the necromancer scenarios with the new sculpt.

gotta agree with u there GKA, the original named ringwraiths were hideous IMO ; i'm quite impressed with the design of the new Khamul & with the current improvements & new releases we may yet see the new versions replace the old both with & without a horse.

I'm still waiting with baited breath to see if a new treebeard is waiting in the wings... after all we've already had a new Gwaihir...

They won't be doing a new Treebeard yet for the same reason they're not doing the mounted versions of the Nazgul. They are only doing Hobbit models at the moment. Gwaihir is in the Hobbit and these Nazgul are the Dol Guldur versions without mount options. No Lord of the Rings until summer.

Have to say I prefer the older named wraiths but the 'larger than life' aesthetic is perfect for those who love it.
