Here are the results of my little test:
Dettol works on plastic, metal and resin. However, I would not use it on a resin miniature, because the resin gets very soft (you can compare the results with resin, blown with a hair-dryer for a long time). You should not use Dettol indoor, because of the bad smell. Contrary to aceton, it does not damage a wodden table when it drops on it by mistake. The plastic goblin is complety clean and ready to paint. The metal knight of Dol Amroth does still have some black spots from the undercoat, so I putted him into new Dettol. On the metal mini, it was more difficult to remove the paint from some indentations. But that´s (maybe) because the KoDO has much more details than the goblin.
WARNING: When I wanted to pour the used Dettol away into the sink, some pieces of paint dryed immediately on the sink, so I had some Boltgun Metal spots on my sink. Luckily, I could remove it quite fast with a brush and soap water. However, I don´t know if there is a safer posibility.
