I should have commented on this thread loooong ago.
Since we've talked also on FB, I have to say that I'm envious of your work, pal, especially the Haradrim would very well fit in with my Haradrim, should you wish to part with them (just joking there). I really enjoy your process of getting an army finished and the very smooth painting style.
Keep it up J. !!

Thank you
That's really funny, because I'm envious of your army and would snatch your hand off if you were ever to let yours go ;)

I'm really pleased with how it turned out... only problem now is it's not the quickest process to produce and I've set a standard I need to keep up with now... ah well, if it's worth doing

Finished my colour test piece.. (well, I thought I had until I took this pic and noticed a few bits I need to tidy up)

I also really struggle with painting the raised details on flags and shields for some reason. I know it sounds daft, but for some reason they always seem to be far more work than I think they should be.

So, on to painting up the other 11!!

Well I do see a couple spots that would bug me a bit, and even though they are hard to spot, I know how it goes when you have high standards. Like the saddle strap to the foot piece and where the spear tip meets the blue cloth looks hazy.
That said.
I think the blue looks amazing, really well done and the metallic parts are smooth. I think you have a successful test piece for sure. 8)

A few blends to smooth out but a lovely looking piece. As for the raised sections, I believe it a misconception that these will be straightforward. They take time to build up the detail. That cannot be achieved a 3-4 coats of paint.

Yes, they are all on my hit list... And the white highlight on his cloak that I have somehow managed to completely miss with both stripe and dirt, lol :P

That actually makes me feel a lot better, thanks.... I was beginning to think i was missing a trick somewhere.
I still need more practice for sure.

Not going to beat myself up over it though

Firstly, your painting is amazing. I would be over the moon to even come close to that knight even with the "problems" that frankly 99% of people wouldn't notice from the distance you'd see them if you were playing with them.
Secondly, those raised area are an absolute nightmare but I think yours look great.
Finally, what racks are you using for your paints? My station is in desperate need of a sort out.

Thanks very much :)

I know most people wont ever spot the little niggles, but just need to try and get things a good as possible for me I guess.... Like painting the underside of things with just as much care, even though no one will ever see it ... but I'D KNOW

As for the paint racks
Image

they are actually nail varnish display stands which I got from Amazon. They have the most rows I could find. I'm really happy with them... in fact, I've only just got my own room... so it's still feels great!

If I can get all the others to the same standard, I'll be very happy and I they should look great en-mass
