Thanks man. I spent maybe 7 hours on Aragorn and maybe 4 or 5 on Boromir.

for my painting change the above hours to days, and still my painting would be well below Kevs standard!

Once you get the hang of it you become quicker and quicker...for me it's now mostly 3-4 hours max per mini, whereas a few years ago it was more then double that. I feel painting gets more intuitive after a while...at the beginning I followed painting guides to the letter, now with more experience I know what works and what doesn't.

Considering the amount Kev paints, I guess it something similar for him ;) Just enjoy it and try to improve little things and you will get better over time - guaranteed :kitten:

Looking forward to more of these unreleased minis - I'm very pleased to see them being painted...they are such nice miniatures and it's a shame (even if I understand the motivation there) to leave them blank!

Marc and Paul - yep thats exactly it. The more you paint the quicker you get. Half of painting is deciding what colour to paint where and this part can often be quite time consuming. It gets faster all the time.

Next up is Faramir. The white tree design drove me insane. The detail is inverted so makes it incredibly difficult to paint after shading the tunic.

Freehand to match the previous Boromir at clients request. Gimli next.

Really like both these models. Especially the Faramir. The free-hand on the cloak is superb, and the transition from cheek bones to facial hair is spot on

I remember getting the Faramir on 22nd december 2003 when I was totally out of it due to a severe tonsil infection and really looking forward to painting him. I painted the BGIME version badly and put this set away for 11 years. I may need to get it back out! Simply stunning work on this DMS and I am very jealous but they are a joy to behold. BTW do you use vallejo or citadel paints.

I use a mixture. I use Vallejo mainly but my metallics are GW.

Thanks for the great comments :)

Cracking work as always Kev - I like Gimli sitting on the dead Uruk but that one probably doesn't count so I'll go for the Defenders of Rohan.

Desperately trying to get my Thror finished and uploaded before you so I don't get overSHADOWED.

Here all week :-)

Aye, that one's the best Gimli model, I think, although I'm still partial to the original FotR one (largely as it is the only one I own). You've certainly done it justice!

Awesome work. The clear break up of color from the belts as a spot color helps make this stand out. The work on the gloves is fantastic as well. Great job.

Lovely work on Legolas and Gimli, and they're both my favourite poses of the characters (them together on horse coming a close second).

I wish you posted in-progress pics, just because I'd love to see one of your works go from start to finish.

Thanks Blue Dragon.

The problem I have is the camera I use is very old and only seems to only get half decent pictures outdoors in natural daylight. Pictures I take indoors in artificial light are pretty terrible. I am looking into a new camera and hopefully it will be better indoors and i'll get some WIP pics up.

Lovely work on Leg o' Lamb. Highlights for me are the base (of course), face and the subtle freehand on the cloak.
