I painted Denethor as part of a commission last week. In the process I realised it's a rather nice model and so decided to repaint my own.

Easily one of the best faces I've seen in that scale.

Helps bells mate, you are good, no denying that but this is at a level you have never produced. The standard here is immense. I am beyond words of worthy praise other than Roman would surely be pleased with this.

You should promote your blog more seriously, the stuff on there is fantastic - especually Balin. Doing yourself a dis-service if you don't! Everyone should check it out.

Reasonably sure you could own Cool Mini or Not with the quality of your painting...
Just about as real as it gets.

The most realistic face I have seen at 28mm. Absolutely stunning work!!! :yay: The expression you've layered into the face and extra little touches of natural colouring etc make this truly special. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product!!! :)

 You have taken your work to another level MMS. That face is truly stunning. I can't even comprehend how you did that. The realism is spectacular.

That is something else, the contrast in the face between light and shadow and the features of his face are stunningly good

Thanks for the comments everyone. It really is appreciated.

I finished off Denethor today. Painting the cloak was a very frustrating experience with the paint misbehaving in various ways. Turned out okay in the end but I'll be researching different colour combinations for painting black to avoid such problems in the future.

For the base I did a simple marble effect.

Fantastic painting Chris. Have you tried mixing the old GW vomit brown with black for highlighting black? goes a funny green colour but seems to work.

World class indeed. You've gone beyond painting colours to painting drama. You can see the grief!
