Thanks Amy...

Sadly, my 'brilliance' dims somewhat... I think what I have perhaps is perseverance!

I was watching the Moria scenes again last night to get more ideas on building Balins Tomb , and then looking back at causeway scene, realised I have positioned the stairs in wrong place!
When Boromir runs out and nearly falls, we get a top down view and there is nothing below the broken length of stairs... the causeway is off to the left from this perspective... I have managed to position it directly below! Darn it! So I am going to have to cut away the causeway, hopefully in one piece, and move about 3-4 inches across to side and re-glue and plaster skim again... plus my side wall has now warped in another plane, so I need more MDF strips to straighten it... Curses!, more work, but I'll get there in the end, I hope... just need to keep focused!

Fear ye not. Artistic impression is everything and there is absolutely nothing wrong with your version. After all, it is a version and not the real thing.

You are too kind Sir!
Sadly I know if I left it as is, it will be one of those things that gnaws and bugs me till I fix it, so might as well get on with it now... I'll break out the saw at the weekend...

More work over the last week;

I made 8 pillars for the dwarrowdelf, thanks to a heads up on rough dimensions from Celevue - thanks for that!

Image

... and also fixed up the stair position on the causeway:

Image

I cut the stairway away from the back wall and base, you can see where it was by the blue mark. Thankfully it all came away in one piece. It's now glued back into position, just awaiting for filler to conceal the joins etc...

More whitterings on the blog as usual.

Thanks for looking...

I am also plodding on with my Uruk scouts, base painted and shade washed, just need highlight and details... Radagast remains half done too as does the ale cart... busy busy as always... I need more time, or another pair of hands! LOL!

This is going to look incredible once completed (not that it isn't now for a WIP).

What I also like about this is the smoothness of the stair walls, very dwarf like and adds to the feel.

Eek! Mega-terrain! Wonderful work, and in all honesty, who hasn't made the occasional blunder with construction - you get too caught up in the details and its only when you step away and look at the 'BIG PICTURE' that you realise something is not quite right.

Thanks :-)

I must admit I have had to re-adjust stairway position again as I realised it wasnt straight and level... because of its shape it needs to be level through three planes,... spirit level has now been all over it! I'll get there in the end, I hope before it drives me crazy... Need to get more Polyfilla at DIY store at weekend - I'm becoming a regular there for polyfilla and PVA...

In meantime, to keep my sanity, I went back to the paintbrush and have finished my 24 Uruk Scouts and am almost finished the Hobbit Ale Cart. I also got Radagast from Hobbit LtdEd set finished too... I'll try and get some pics up over weekend. Next up staring at me are Tom, Bill and Bert awaiting greenstuff join filling...

I also need to do Lurtz, Mauhur, the Uruk scout banner and drummer set done, plus a few odd metal uruk Scouts, and am thinking of repainting my Ugluk, as I was never 100% happy with colour scheme I did way back then... I also need to get a Vrasku...

Excellent work Scott, can't wait to see it in action!
If i can make one small criticism, the Bridge of KD doesn't quite look right, a tad too fat.

Thanks. I know what you mean, it doesnt look like the movie version.

The scenario suggests a 6" wide chasm... and the bridge it self whilst from the movie would be single file width for a regular figure, then would be a hazard to the Balrog model, so I have made it 50mm wide.

However I agree I think its too deep ( top to bottom and will trim it away from the underside). I was also pondering cutting the base of the board through, and widening the chasm, or perhaps simply cutting in two and leaving it in two halves! Either way then I can increase the length of the bridge... it might also make storage of board later, in two halves, easier...

http://scottswargaming.blogspot.co.nz/2014/06/more-moria-work.html

Also finished my Uruk Scouts:

Image

again, more pics, and paint scheme on blog...
http://scottswargaming.blogspot.co.nz/2014/06/uruk-hai-scouts.html

I also finished painting my Hobbit Ale Cart, though am now trying to add reigns - a darn tricky thing to do! More pics of that when its finished.

Tom, Bert and Bill also got greenstuffed and based...

Looking good, Scott! Do check out the two-part article on building Balin's Tomb by the Buckland Brewer in the Tomes of Wisdom section - that was, in turn, my source of guide & inspiration!
