For the dark area I'm meaning the band that runs across the blade and the blood channel. I'm sure it isn't easy to do as I haven't done NMM yet.
Look at the sword on the below link, it's near the bottom of the thread.

Hmm, still not sure what you mean :D

The blood channel is mostly pure black (while looking a bit different on the photo), this cannot stretch to the tip as the blood channel ends not at the tip (and the end of the sword is higher in the middle, not lower as where the blood channel is). I'm not a native English speaker so my ability to describe this is limited.

If something doesn't look right im really interested in understanding.

Language barriers are difficult when you talk detail.
If you think the sword is almost horizontal, then it's the dark area running vertical across both edges of the blade and the blood channel, the middle section.

Got it, thanks. This is the shadow from the horn as the light comes from above, I think I keep it that way. Nevertheless I thought about it and in a prior version it was longer (now under some layers of paint). I need more practice on NMM.

That's fine, at least we got there about understanding each other !!!
I've been checking the Knightmodels and feel that Legolas will be my first 72mm but unfortunately not for a while.

I'm planning to do better pics (need better light etc.), but for now I'm done with this piece. It was fun, but a lot of work and it will take some time until I start such a task again.

I'm quite happy with the outcome given it is my first miniature of this size.

However it feels strange to go back to GW minis after painting this - hopefully that's over soon.

It really is an exquisite piece. Fantastic sculpt and a wonderfully applied painting technique.
