Thanks John Wayne!

Haven't done much painting lately. Gave some minis basecoats but haven't had the time to fully concentrate on painting them.
In the past few weeks I began making some terrain pieces (small hill, tent..)
I also converted some models. My Rohan foot army counts 24 painted and 24 unpainted models. Needless to say their poses began to bore me so I started swapping weapons and repositioning some arms ^^
I think I'll add some greenstuff to one of the converted models to make him into a captain.

Progress on my banner bearer. I think the length of the pole is good. Maybe I'll bend it a little bit just as the wind would bend a wooden pole a bit.

I have to cut away some plastic on his hand because it still looks a bit too thick now.

Some conversions (I've done some conversions on riders as well, but I'll limit the pic heaviness of my post :D)

Small terrain piece. Would this count as hard to thread for infantry? Cavalry can't pass through it because of their width but they can jump over it.

Small hill I'm working on. Part natural hill, part artificial stonework (a bit like the surroundings of Amon Hen in the movie) Might include the statue from the terrain set.

Needs to be painted etc.

I think that's all for now :D
My next game will be around the end of June, I hope to have finished my army list models by then (Some RoR, WoMT, Faramir, Eomer, Eowyn).

Thanks for the kind comments and advice so far! ^^

terrain looks nice so far, for me the hill really stands out
little hint for the edge of ur cardboard - get some tesacrep and do it over the sides to hide up the horrible cardboard edge :)
i think the banner pole is quite huge - just thinking about how much weight it should be in real life..

@Garmenhord Measured the pole again. It's 7cm, in real life that would be 4.5m.
That might indeed be a bit too long. I'll maybe cut off 1.5 cm.
Thanks! I needed to fix the edges, but didn't really now how.

@JohnWayne Thanks! They're minor changes but they bring more life to my army ^^

Another update on some conversions!
I don't think I'll be painting until mid june. I want to finish my warbands as a whole, and I don't have the time to do that (exams/finals).
I like the GW sculpt of the Rohan captain but I'm saving money to buy named heroes. So I convert some plastic minis to captains, banner bearers etc. Not all my conversions will become captains, some of them are just changed a bit to add a bit more life to my army.

Image
Captain foot and mounted. Their basic sculpts looked a bit alike, so I traded the rider's spear for a sword. The warrior's arm was cut off and put back on in a different angle using greenstuff. Need to scrape just a little greenstuff off. Swapped his spear with a sword as well.

Image
This guy was in need of surgery :D
He had lost his left arm, couldn't find it anywhere. Luckily, I had a warg rider who had his left arm and leg snapped off. I could have glued them on, but I like my Rohirrim more so I gave the Orc arm to this one, glued a shield on the arm and put a spear in his other hand. The Orc will become part of my terrain pieces I guess :D

Image
Gave this guy's axe to a swordsman (see next picture). That sword was given to my captain conversion and so on. I was one weapon short, so I gave this poor guy a sword from my sprue of warg riders (they've got weapons enough).

Image
Gave them an axe for a sword. In the back you see the same sculpt with a sword but I cut off that rider's arm and glued it back on in a slightly higher angle. I've got 40+ riders so a bit of variation won't hurt.

Don't know when I'll be posting again.
Maybe next week, maybe next month :D

Resize your photos! They are absolutely gigantic and take ages to load haha. Good stuff though!

Yes, I will certainly resize them next time!
Thanks and thanks for the info on my other thread, though you've now probably seen I already did those things you suggested ^^

So, after a long period of not having been able to do any painting (mainly due to school), I've started painting again last week. Glad to be back :D

Here's a small update;

Image
Image

I'm giving this guy some small accents to make him stand out a bit. I'll be using him as a generic captain (if I need one).
Plan to add some cream accents to his clothes as well.
Still needs base colours on some parts and highlighting on others.
I'm giving all of my WoMT dark blue clothes. (Kantor Bue mixed with small amounts of black and dawnstone)

Next update will probably be 24 finished WoMT

I like the idea you have for the hill.
Use painters tape for the voids in the cardboard. Paste, glue or filler could cause the card board to warp. I use map pins to hold felt flat while the glue drys. It will work well enough for card board.

Thanks!

OmW: I will certainly try that. I think I'll try to fix it before having my next game.
Thanks for the tips!

Simple yet effective conversions. I think the length of the banner's pole is a bit long though; the painted horse on his leather armor is excellent!!

How did you cut the foam so precisely? I noticed that it's expanded foam; whenever I cut expanded foam its cells are always visible, plus making clean cuts is also an issue.

Thanks! I share the same idea, simple yet effective enough to spice up the troops.
I agree, the length of the pole is too long in that pic but I adjusted it in the meantime.
The pole is now 5.9cm long. Which might still be too long but it's better than before (it was something like 7.5cm)

The foam was cut with a cutting knife (with breakable blade). I carefully 'sliced' the foam which resulted in cleaner cuts. I didn't put too much pressure on the knife but gently sliced with swift motions. The foam will stick harder to the knife though (static electricity I guess).
But cleaner cuts+ a smaller mess >>> annoying clingy foam

Hi, another small update.

Image

The one in front has received an ushabti bone line on his garments, will post a picture when he's based.

Image

Image

Image

Currently working on basing them. Will base them part stone part dirt/grass.
Don't know if I'm going to base all 24 like this.
Might do 12 like this and 12 as I've based my Rohan warriors.
Not too sure if it will look like a whole then, what are your thoughts on this?

i like your WoMT's bases.simple but very effective.
I'd do all 24 of them the same in terms of uniformity.
It works every time for me when i re-visit old armies and add new troops or heroes.

An update on my Gondor force again;
Based all my spearmen and some bowmen.
Swordsmen are still waiting to be based but I think I'll do some painting first.
It's a bit too much to base them all in one go.

Image

Group shot.

Image

Image

Two close-ups.

Image

The backs.

Might add some tufts of grass to the bases later, not sure about that yet (and not sure about which kind to use from the Army Painter range).

Next up:
A lot :D
Either painting some plastic models(Rangers/Outriders), heroes, or completing the conversion ideas I had in mind.

C&C welcome!

The painting and basing standards are rising - and you are getting quite a bunch of them done too. Good work!

I think the odd tuft of grass will work very well.
