Great work, Mertaal - the base really brings the figure above and beyond as a piece.

DAAAAAAMN, that's a nice Troll. Still too dear in $$$ for me to attempt to get them, but I really love how you've done him. The base is amazing as well, very thematic and cool. Lots of great stuff going on all around.

Still WIP, still wet, time for bed.

It's turned out to not be a fun easy mini to paint, but pretty horrible, with ill-defined "what the hell is that supposed to be?" "details" all over it. It's not going to win any prizes - here or anywhere else, but I'm at least on track for a half-decent tabletop model by the end bell.

Apologies if WIPs are discouraged in these threads. It's been awhile, and I remember when I was more regular here they used to be ok if not excessive.

Tomorrow: More wash layering (needs some green, black, brown in spots). Lots of cleanup, finish the base, do the eyes and other details - and than it's foliage time!

tick, tock, Clarise....

Stunning work Mertaal, love the mushrooms and the wet mud. Is that real Fern?

Thanks all. Humbling to get such a nice response. Really poured my heart and soul in to this one!

@Dunedain Yes i shall! Might try to get his friends up and running too, although the time constraints are pushing that a little!

@harfoot: it's actually tendrils of moss. Couple of sprigs of parsley root there too, although they don't really come out in the picture that well.

@Scipio.au Looks awesome so far, hope you get it finished, I'd love to see it with all the foliage 8) I really like the sculpt too, reminds me a bit of something you'd see in the Kingdom Hearts game (loved that game!)

every thing looks awesome. Mertaal, I love your troll, the whole thing looks top notch, the only part I don't like is the branch club he is holding, because you did so well with the base, this branch looks less realistic...So your great skill has made GW's sculpting look bad :)

Here's the finished Necromancer. He turned out pretty solid I think. It was definately hard to paint flames onto a model not sculpted for it lol.

Great work, James. I'll certainly be taking some inspiration from your idea when I eventually get around to painting my own Necromancer!

edit - spelling!
