I think both sculpts are amazing. Definitely inspires me to want to do the same. I'm actually working on my first ever attempt at sculpting, a hill-troll. Definitely gets discouraging at times but I just come to this thread to reignite so to speak

The paintbrush isn't my weapon of choice but it did make a refreshing change to the sculpting tool.

Willow foliage is something called natural fern. It looks quite fragile but is quite robust once its painted and sealed. The foliage on the back of the birch is woodland scenics clump foliage which is basically dyed sponge.

I thought it was fern, thanks mate. I'm looking at using some for my next project but I will be using mine a little different. Nice to see the different uses.

How do you stick the fern on to the Willow, Amy is yet to do that on her's as she didn't want to mess it up?

I just super glued the foliage to the ends of the branches then covered/surrounded it with a little blob of putty to strengthen the join and blend it into the branch. Of course if you aren't planning on gaming with it you needn't add the putty.

Very nice Ents, I prefer yours to the GWs versions! Hope you put them back into production soon

I've got an order coming in soon Harfoot 8)

In the meantime I have been working on resurrecting the Elf from the Dead Marshes. Going for a forlorn reflective post battle look.

The concept for this model goes to Gus Kearns who did something similar for a Golden Demon entry several years ago.

Resurrecting the dead? UKFB is The Necromancer! :)
This has an epic feel to it... the weariness, the loss of so many comrades and death of Gil-Galad. Really looking forward to seeing this one finished up.

Good to see this thread bumped.

Really good spectre, can't wait to see a moody and melancholic paint job on it. Even "raw" it has a lot of mood and emotion inside of it so it will look great when fully painted.

I did already know the original conversion, but I think yours is looking much cooler!
The cloak is absolutely awesome, would you mind giving me some tipps for sculpting cloaks I think I will do this in future as well, I simply love blowing hair and cloaks...

Best wishes

With cloaks it's all about contours. I lay a cloak shape on the back then gently shape it with a firm clay shaper (chisel tip). Once it has cured, I lay individual strips and work them in for exaggerated folds. I actually found the blowing hair the most challenging. Much more so than hanging hair which is quite simple in comparison. I'm still not completely happy with it to be honest.

Mr Freddybear have you ever seen the movie Space Jam? If you have I need to develop the machine the aliens use to steal the NBA players' talent and "borrow" *cough cough* your sculpting talent for a bit.

As always another magnificent conversion!

Great news. Love the Spectre, shame GW never produced more variations when they released the original 3. I would buy that if you put it into production.
