Thank you all for your more than kind words! :) I'm really glad that you like the colour scheme and the snowy base and I am really happy about the positive responses!

@edge67: You saw that right, I tried NMM again, still I am not as happy as I was with Gandalf ealier this year..

@Gandlaf: Thanks again friend, also for your advise! You mean I should shade the "metal" parts of the axe with purple or red? I am not sure about these colours.. But you are right that a little more contrast on the blade wouldnt hurt :) I really like MMS' WIP thread and watch it for quite a while already, but I didn't see much about "shaded nmm" .. :-/

@BillFerny333: Thanks so much, I admire a lot of your minis and your painting and bases are excellent! So your comment means a lot to me! :)

Phew, well this is something really neat to see! The NMM, especially on the front of the axe (what a cool sheen!) is very well done and the base itself could serve as a tutorial for how snow/winter basing should be done. Really good stuff here.

The reds and purples are done in very thin glazes that create the contrast. If you take a look at this link, for all it is done with metal and not NMM it may give you the idea for the contrast.

Great looking minis - seeing the occasional one based in snow is a nice touch.
I like the dwarf sculpts. Really looking forward to The Battle of the Five Armies :)

Thanks gilcris and Dorthonion!

@Gandlaf: I tried it, but I think it works better on actual metallic colours especially if the surface is curved, not plain.. so after working on the blade again not much (if not nothing) of the purple is left ^^ I guess it looks a bit better and more "shiny" now?

Ah well, worth the try I suppose. I agree that it does look better and is hard to be live it's NMM, you have done a great job and should be proud.

Thanks again, Gandlaf and James! :)

After quite a while ( almost a year, oh my.. viewtopic.php?f=50&t=24858&start=20 ) I finally managed to get a Rohirrim conversion as good as finished :) Only the base is really left to be still completed.

Also I am quite happy to anounce another update following soon, stay tuned if you like, I won't disappoint you! (if you don't hate elves at least ;) )

Haha, thanks for your nice comments! I'm glad you like it :)

@mertaal: Seeing your Sons of Eorl conversion lets me believe, that your conversion standards are at least the same, well actually even better than mine!

@Gandlaf: actually it's still the original head, but I scraped away the hat and modelled hair onto the mini

Nice work. I think it's been 8 months since I last painted a mini, so a year's not that bad :D

I've got some Rohan Archer conversions waiting for me as well.

You did a great job on this one!

Idk if it's just the photo but he looks like you painted him as if he's fairly old.I love that personally. I've got 1 Haradrim warrior that's the "old vet" of the bunch. It just adds a lot of character to the army I think

@Delivrim: I'm looking forward to seeing your approach! :) Btw, it was just so long for this mini, I painted others in the meantime of course ;)

@JamesR: That indeed was my Intention. As many of the Rohirrim were quite "of age" I wanted to give him such an appearance :) Glad you noticed it ;)

In other news: an update I am quite proud of, another work I managed to finish in the christmas-holidays.
The fair lady Arwen Evenstar, who I must say, was a real pleasure to paint. Especially after it was a "lucky purchase" from ebay, together with ohter minis. I didn't really plan to buy this exact one, but am more than glad that I did.
But enough talking, I'll let you jugde by yourself now :)

You've done justice to what is IMO the best model in the range. The composition of light and colour scheme are very well executed.
