Unfortunately I have to agree with you mate, it isn't your best, though you have done some nice work.
I think it looks part finished and needs the highlighting to be applied.

I think it's excellent. It's dark and dirty and very orcy. The fur is very close to how it looks in the film. I especially like the detail put into the face of the warg.

Much better, it has that dirty feel that Han refers too. Very fitting and well executed.

Thanks guys :) Your comments were quite a relief after the rushed version I had to enter in the painting challenge.

So, I know, this isn't a real update, but due to a massive lack of time for the hobby I thought, I could show you some of my older works at least. Especially after some of you asked for it when I presented you the Moria display piece.
So here you go with the hobbits of the fellowship :) I've painted them about 5 years ago or so..

These are good and I think shows how well you have developed. I know you would make a much better effort if you did these now.
I think it is nice to see things like this as it gives you a benchmark.

Thanks for the kind words Gandlaf :)
Maybe some day I will repaint them, or buy these models again and have a direct comparison ;)
For now here are two more old works, again several years old.. But still I am pretty proud of the wings on Aragorn's bracers!

The warg is excellent and even the models from yesteryears are good quality. :)

Thank you all for your nice comments. They are quite encouraging and I really hope to find some time in the christmas holidays to get something new done :)

@DMS: Thanks, that's actually a pretty nice idea. Will do that ASAP

A belated merry christmas to all of you here in this wonderful community :)
I hope you're having a nice holiday.
I'm glad to be able to show you something new I've been working on in the last days: A dwarf king for the winter painting challenge :)
C & C are welcome as always!

Yes, I love these dwarf king models, and you've done a great job with him. Love the snow base too!

Nicely done, the beard colour really works well as does the pattern on the cloth

Great work Rognarr and I love the way you have done the axe, the lines across the flat areas look the part. Ironically my only point is about the axe, do you think a little more light and dark contrast could be used i.e. some brighter highlights and a touch more shading ? For the shading try doing what Minimal Monkey Saddle has been doing, using thin glazes of purples and dark reds. His thread is worth a look.

Just going through your latest posts Rognarr. Great stuff. Your old models are so much better than what I produced back them. Well done. Love the dwarf king. Really excellent work there!
