That's a great looking display piece, and the painting is making all the detail come alive.

Bill, you've done a great job at your dio so far and the writing on the pages is a detail I didnt think of, when I painted mine!
I hope it's ok that I took some inspirations for improvements on mine? :P

Absolutely! I am glad I could inspire you. Actually, I was just looking at your berserkers, and I confiscated all of my wife's wine corks to use as rocks. Great idea (and excellent painting too).

Thats a great figure to paint, is it a conversion ?
The painting looks good though my only pointer is the silver armour ? I'm not convinced it works better than the golden version. However your work on the base is exemplary and overall this is great work.

Er, that armour does look gold on my screen, although it does appear to have been highlighted by adding silver. Nowt wrong with that. The arrow is pretty cool. I like it a lot.

Gold here too. Nice work again Randy. Highlighting gold with silver looks great in my opinion - really bringss the armour to life.

Nice painting either way, and perfect basing as with all your work!

Yeah it's gold. Highlighted very nicely, just like the movies.

I love going into the WIP section and seeing something out of the ordinary.

Hey thanks for all the comments guys!

It is only a conversion in the sense that I added the arrow (shaft from a paper clip and I made the fletching out of greenstuff). It is the dead Easterling that comes with the Easterling Kataphrakts boxed set.

The armor is indeed gold. Well its Sycorax Bronze, but to me it looks more like a gold and less like a bronze.

I'm thinking it was a lighting issue at home. I've looked again this morning and its back to the gold look !!!
Anyway, it looks great.

Easterling casualty - excellent.
Hunter orcs - Great! I can smell them from here... :)
High Elves - In that famous pose from the battle in Mordor on the slopes of Mount Doom. Fabulous.

Here is a Knight of Minas Tirith I did. I was watching ROTK and was inspired by Faramir's procession of knights out of Minas Tirith.

A couple more Fell Wargs. I went with a snowy base on these two.

How have I not come across this thread before?? :?
Fantastic painting all round!

The knight of Minas Tirith I think is especially well done, He looks as though he has just been fighting for ages and is proud to have helped taking back an old Gondorian city. The flowers make the city seem worn down and yet still add hope and brightness to the piece.
8)

Great stuff

The fell wargs look just great! Maybe I'll change my mind about the "bold" parts ^^
