Nice work!

I'm very envious of your photography results, what's your setup like?

milk jug, black card, two cheap fluorescent lights that clamp to my desk and a cheap camera phone.

I started on Eowyn today.

I started with a thin coat of dark flesh. this is then covered with a mix of khaki and a mid skin tone. I find the premade skin to be a little too pink and adding the khaki gives a more natural, dusky base colour that works better for light female skin. I added a little dark flesh to my base and washed this around the eyes, nose and lower jaw. then I added some highlights with base plus ivory. with the basic structure outlined I went back and forth between light and dark using small amounts of paint on my brush. I'm not to concerned with the transitions as I find overlapping glazes of shade and highlight makes for a more interesting final result.

I like the idea for the use of Khaki. I never thought of that before but will be using it for my next appropriate skin toned figure.

Beautiful painting. I cannot quite put my finger on it but there is something about your style that manages to make the minis look bigger, more substantial. Great work.

I always wondered how your work would look with better photos, now I know (=really outstanding). The photos are great now, you say you use a cheap camera phone, may I ask which exactly?

edit: Thanks for the hint with the milk jugg, this gave me the idea to build a lightbox, together with more light, this gives me much better results now. Will do all new photos this way.

As the U-boat captain said in Dad's Army, 'Garmenhorde - you are going on the list'.

I like the more brown darker tone you're going for. More realistic.

As usual I'm blown away with your painting MMS, looking forward to seeing the work on the Orc.

Here's an almost finished Galadriel:

The robes aren't as crisp as I would like. It took me several attempts to figure out the appropriate technique for the look I wanted. But I'm glad I persisted as I learnt a few new tricks along the way.
