This is a fair construction you have underway here Charles. It's looking extremely good, I'm glad to see your still busy working away. Can I ask where you got the top of the pillar mould from? Or did you do it yourself. Superb work as always, I'll keep an eye on this thread. What are you using as the mountainside? plaster rocks?

Thanks

Did I just spot an old 1980's metal balrog on the previous page? I have one of those - I think it was Citadel (old GW) but not 100% sure.
This project continues to amaze.

Back then Citadel made Miniatures, Games GW. The base is marked MP.

I will not be able to cast the columns before Tuesday because of the rain. I will work on the back drop some but I will need some lay out space so that will have to wait to later in the week too.I will start on a custom mold for the 21th Hall soon after that.

Image

I need to cast three columns the correct length. I will need to pin/peg them to the floor when I attach the roof. The cave floor parts are not square so the columns won't square up until I do.
I have started prepping the model for paint.

Image

The end column will be 4 stories tall. It will start at the base with the door. and end at the roof. It will be a half column and end up as a whole column as I tie it in to the entry hall and roof.

Thanks for the link. It is a good one.
I am not sure how to manage the height of the model. The Bridge of Khazad-Dun is giving me problems. The lava will have to wait until I puzzle out the next section.

Wow, just wow, spent a good portion of my afternoon reading through this whole thread and admiring your spectacular terrain work my friend. This looks like something out of the actual film and beautifully combines something that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also playable, in that aspect you have succeeded wonderfully. You should be so proud of this piece it is an absolute beauty and is one of the reasons why I love this hobby so much, you can create beautiful thing's like this that leave fellow hobbyists speechless, apart from the odd expletive when they see the size  . Cant wait to see how this progresses and it will look absolutely brilliant when it's all painted up and completed :)
