So I started to think about a dwarf army, and the more I think about it the more I like it. But the thing I have no idea where to start with a 750 point army. Could you help me create a competitive list, and guide what to buy next. Right now I have a box of rangers, warriors, 2 sets Khazad guard, a King's Champion, a command set, and Dain and Balin. Any thoughts or help? Thanks!!!

Iron Guard are one of my favourite Dwarf troop types, so I'd recommend a few of them. Throwing axes, and the ability to use either their sword or their axe up close (so you can use either special strike) is useful, and they're pretty tough too.

Murin and Drar are pretty decent too, as a pair of Heroes who both have useful special abilities (two-shots and easier-to-wound against orcs).

You've got a pretty solid base there, my personal recommendation on what to buy next would start with Murin and Drar. They seem to be the most underplayed Dwarf heroes (by people on this site anyways) but they are VERY good. For me I take them over any other dwarf hero 9 times out of 10.

(Edit: well it seems someone else plays them too lol)

Here's a 750 point list based upon what you already have, I tried to keep it from adding too much that you would have to purchase to play it.

Warband 1
Múrin
Drár
4x Dwarf Rangers (w DLB)
7x Dwarf Warriors (w Shield)

Warband 2
King's Champion
2x Heralds
4x Dwarf Warriors (w 2h axe)
6x Khazad Guard

Warband 3
Balin, son of Fundin (w Durin's Axe)
4x Iron Guard
3x Dwarf Rangers (w DLB)

Warband 4
Gimli, son of Gloin

Total: 745

Heroes: 5 (counting the heralds as an extension of the Champion)
Might: 14
Bows 7/28 (troops)

*Note: be sure to remember that each herald carries a banner, for some reason people often seem to overlook that.

Ok well, you basically NEED a Kings Champion if you want to play at all competitively. Allying in spear armed dwarves from Erebor also adds a huge boost, I like leading them with Balin as he is cheap and has a cheeky little ability. Alot of people think they should take 3 massive heroes like Dain, Murin and Drar, Durin, Thoring, Dwalin etc because dwarf warriors can tank whatever comes their way, those people are wrong, here is my 750pt list:

Balin
12 Dwarves with spear and shield

Kings Champ
10 Khazad Guard

Gimli
12 dwarves with shields

Shield Bearer
10 dwarves with shields

52 Models is a solid number, you have deceptively low might thanks to Balin re-roling priority and the Shield Bearer being able to call free heroics. You can always substitute some of the shields for bows, dwarf shooting is a very underestimated art, I honestly can't think of another 9pt model with a strength 3 bow, and defence 6.

I wouldn't do Grimhammers. They are not worth the points.

But depending on how much you are willing to spend I'd recommend Vault Wardens, probably my favorite Dwarven unit (if utilized properly)

Get some Khazad Guard. Grimhammers are basically dearer versions of these

I would take Grimmhammers for the looks.
You could use Khazad guard stats for them.
