Which I did as well but it still makes me sad...
I would love to see my old High Elves from the FotR Starter Box again.

Aragorn looks really nice so far. Gandalf has become a bit pale and his clothes are rather white than grey but you have already tried some highlighting there which is much more than I did with my first models.

Keep up the good work! Besides fun, practice is the most important part of the hobby to improve!

Here is my finished Aragorn :) In my opinion he is a LOT better than Gandalf which was quite a poor first attempt. This is supposed to be him when he is part of the three hunters in TTT. :D

I'll upload some close-ups later :)

THis is a real improvement indeed. I'm impressed by how you painted his eyes, looks really good already! Your painting looks a lot cleaner already and your attempt on decorating the base is ok too.
Keep on the good work, you're definitely on the right way!

here is a WIP shot of Legolas :) My painting hasn't been very precise on this figure so I will need to do a lot of touch-up work at the end. Apart from the touch-ups at the end I still need to do his face, arrowheads, boot & arm-guard lining, various straps and his base :D

What brush(es) do you use? Maybe you can show a photo?

That's a good start! You might want to try washes next to deepen the shadows and thus add depth to the minis.

(Also, you could take a look at dipping. It is a swear word to many, but it's an easy way to bring good enough looking minis to the tabletop.)

Good to see someone new getting started with the hobby. Personally I would abandon the bright green you've used on Aragorn's base in the future because its just too bright really. Just had a quick google search and this website may be of use:

http://www.how-to-paint-miniatures.com/

It talks you through all the various techniques you can try like drybrushing, washing e.t.c. All the best with the painting and looking forward to seeing you progress :)

What paints are you using? It's worth investing in a core set. You'll want at least one type of black, white, green, red, blue, yellow, brown, cream, skin colour, gold and silver. From there you can mix up most colours you will need. An ink/wash is handy to have too. If you find you are mixing a lot of the same colour over and over then just buy a pot of that, I have a number of greys and browns, for example, but only one blue.

What are those spikes around Aragorn? Orc arrows?
