It was with some sadness that i watched the last of the 20th series of Time Team ( a UK archaeology series - non UK members).

After 20 series they have finally pulled the plug. I understand there might be a few specials in 2014 and then that's it.

I wondered if anybody else on the forum was equally miffed when they realised it was finishing. I know over the last few years viewing figures have decreased but I am saddened that another intellectual program has been banished from the airwaves.

ah -well as a certain guy sang...

Quote:
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin’
And the first one now will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’

I haven't really watched it recently (I thought it had already been effectively cancelled), but this is quite disappointing to learn. I always found it was pretty educational and enjoyable, and found the stuff I heard in it gave me random trivia facts to spout out to make me sound clever.

I knew it would be over when Mike left.

I loved that show.

That's a shame :( Ive always put it on in the background when I'm painting on a day off, it was always good to hear about our history. I'll look out for a mega dvd boxset in the next few years

I too am sad to see it go. I haven't seen it for a short while but caught it now and again rather than regularly from about season 14 or so onwards. I did buy quite a few of the books, so I do have some keepsakes from the series. I hope they release the series on DVD.

Yeah, many's a day I painted or wrote with a Time Team marathon on in the background.

All things must pass, I guess.

Luckily on Discovery History yesterday they had a Time Team day and on More 4 this morning they showed about 6 episodes. Whilst there won't be any new ones (except for the specials) we can enjoy the previous episodes...except for the ones when Phil is in shorts....thats just too much....
