sound man, I did begin the armature and prep before the challenge post was up and had a fair bit done, something like 5 goes at it from armature to proof, so maybe that ?. What about yourself, you gonna give one a shot ?

Your moria goblin is coming on superbly. I'm very impressed!

their keepin you busy so, this time time of year and all doesn't help either, good luck with them and thanks again, I'm fairly pleased myself with how this has turned out, being my first attempt at this size and all. Although I do owe a lot to the wips and blogs I've been looking at, especially stage by stage pics, they've inspired and helped tremendously.

Hi Silverhand, nice solid concept sketch you've got there, very interesting. good to see another entry too :)

Thanks, seriously, boring lectures can do miracles with your creativity.

And now some progress, every photo was taken before baking in oven.

Oh, and the putty I used is called FIMO, its oven hardening modelling clay.

I will do final photos with better camera, this one do **** when shooting red colour.

Wow did you press mold that head or sculpt it from scratch? It's very impressive.

Ive sculpted it from scratch. Since Gundabads are much bigger than moria goblins I didnt use any of their bits. My captain is about the height of old WoMT, so slightly lower than man currently produced.

And now some more photos, hopefully Ill finish tomorrow and start something new :P (can I have more than one entry? )

U need sure hand and some other tools 4 FIMO. I use something like a brush, but with rubber at the end. Its nice 4 smoothing GS and more or less only thing to use with FIMO

Tanks for the tip, i always had some troubles with smoothening stuff in fimo. But still i keep actually accidently pushing on parts i just shaped - making me gotta start it all over again. Still remains hard to do i think :-)

Yeh you are talking about rubber tipped clay shapers. Essential for quality sculpting. I am amazed that you can get this level of detail with fimo on this scale. The whole oven baking process puts me off using it.

DomyHill - good luck :) I guess youll go 4 some conversion?

UKFB - for me FIMO is much better. Baking aint a problem and for such a low motivation person as me doing sculpt in a day is pretty much only way. Putting in over, 30 minutes, ding and I can go back to work. With GS it takes something about 3-6h breakes, and even more if I wont to cut it smoothly.

And here, next photos, one more baking and we're ready.

As us see I also started another fellow, this on gonna be shaman.

Wow, there are some very awesome looking entries already! I really gotta do my very best!

Here's my proof picture.

Image

It's not much yet, as you can see! Haha! Just a bulb of green stuff on a 25mm base. This is the beginning of the belly of the Great Goblin. I will sculpt my own, because the movie version is different from how I've envisioned him.

More (and more interesting) WIP pictures soon!

I know it's not very impressive, I've been off form due to illness but I just needed something to do today.

Here's my dabbling with the new goblins:

Proof Picture:
Image

A Goblin Captain: Constituent parts: The Goblin in the Proof picture, a Perry halberd-head (from the Mercenaries box), a Perry buckler (also from the Mercenaries), a Greenstuff strap for the buckler and a greenstuff arm-band (I figured in a society like the Goblins', thievery would be rampant, so you'd best keep your wealth on your person. It'll be painted copper or bronze, not sure yet)

Silverhand, the captain looks superb with all the details, I really like the body work on the shaman too, theres so much character coming through already.

DomyHill, the smaller banner pieces work quite nicely instead of one big one, especially for a goblin, great little touch, neat paint job too.

nice to see more goblins coming along too.

another bit...

...that I'm not quite sure about now, I like the sword but the back's getting messy. I feel as though the plastic betrays the sculpt or something, I might try a cloak.

I think it will be fine painted up. Just looks odd to the eye being two contrasting colours.
