I thought of starting a topic asking people to tell us how did they found out about the site, from a fellow gamer, a hobby store owner, from a flyer (lol)? I am really interested in hearing everybody's story.
Myself I cannot recall to tell you the truth...I think through Google browsing.

I was a member of TLA first which is where I heard about the One Ring. I do look in on the TLA every once in a while but my home is here.

Same thing with me.
It was a long time ago but I think I joined TLA, and there was a link or a reference to this place so I visited... and never left.

I had been a member of TLA for a while and someone there (his name was Maitex if I recall correctly) asked me for help with producing a supplement - to be called 'The Age of the King". The team members included a guy called Silverscott (a Ranger on TLA at the time) and he had a website called the One Ring, where he suggested we could discuss the supplement.

Eventually I took over when Silverscott left the hobby and lost interest in the place.

After a three year break from the hobby I simply googled to find a forum and rekindle my interest . Started on a Dutch forum and took a look at TLA but OR seemed like the nicest one, and it is :-D

I can't really recall how I discovered this place. I think I just googled Lotr SBG hobby and this site popped up and I said sure why
If you mods can find this message I'll give you props. If not, then I guess that means I can basha and berate all of you openly all I want to.
not. Was looking for another group of hobbyists out there because the Middle-Earth Center branch off group was pretty inactive. I think they have even deleted the group now.

I was a member of TLA at the time and heard of OR, but never visited until one day when TLA was down. I had to head elsewhere to get my daily LotR dose and I never went back (well I did occassionally, but that sounded better).

Well, I just joined this forum, but I am a member of the Lead-Adventure forum, and because of the lack of LOTR miniatures on that forum, I searched google for LOTR wargames forums, and I found this! :)

I joined thepalantir first, but do to the inactivity there I started looking at other lotr sites that my brother was a part of(and had conveniently book marked) and came across tla, and the OR. After stalking for a bit I finally joined this site and I'm very glad that I did.

It came to me in a dream...

Actually, I was looking for ideas on painting minis and terrain and found O-R on a search. I was also on The Palantir, TLA and TheWhiteCity at one time or another. But this is the best! :D

Like most people, it seems, I was just browsing for a LotR forum to discuss the hobby, and came across this site. :)

I was a member of TLA. When it went down one time, I created an account here in order to contact Dagorlad to see if he knew anything or could do anything. I then hopped right back over to TLA. Then, when it went down big time (which it's still recovering from), I ended up just staying here.

TheWhiteCity was around when the game was at the height of its popularity. It was an active forum that had some nice extra features. I really liked that site - it had a good feel to it and the mods were helpful and pretty cool.

It's a shame but it was one of the first to disappear once people's interest started waning. There were dozens of other smaller ProBoards forums around at the same time too, none of which survived.

I got on the OneRing by googling it. I was thinking about starting the hobby but wanted some more info first. It felt really helpfull to be able to read all those articles. It was and still is fun browsing trough the wips of people.
I did made an account on some other sites when i was in the hobby a bit further, but that didn't really lasted long. This felt like the best place to be for me. :)
Also the lay out of this one really looked top! The other ones had those standard like looks. It's still a stimulation for keeping up with the hobby. Just regretting that i don't always have the time and energy to be active.

I used to browse the TLA and Palantir around 2005-7 before I lost interest in the hobby. Never really posted, just got inspiriation from everyone on there. Found this site in a gaming club forum, someone suggested to post a link to their tourney here so I followed it, made an account and the rest - they say - is history. Here I am, and here I shall stay :)
