Impressive work, Drumstick! :yay:

Adding ‘dirt’ to the walls of these Minas Tirith houses was a good thing; it makes them look more realistic. Are you going to add some ivy too?

(Have you seen these pictures of the city of Dale in PJ’s Production Video no. 8? You’re going to love it!)

Oh thank you! A comment from such an incredible modelmaker is very much appreciated. Ivy, brick work on the base, barrels and everyday objects that make the model look lived in will be added once I progress. Yes, the city of Dale looks superb, with it's Mediterranean look to it. Can't wait to start building some new designs from the Hobbit! I aspire to work to your standard one day and try recreating middle-earth like you have (I've even taken a modelbuilding university course to do just that!).

Amazing Work Drum!
2-2,5x the price of the Ruins of Osgiliath, for something 10x times more awsome (and handmade) is a fair offer (out of budget for a broke student  , but fair nonetheless)

The model is on Ebay for £45 to start off. We'll see what happens anyway.

Absolutely magnificent work! :D I would bid for the building but I live in the US and it only ships to the UK.
Guess I'll have to build my own Minas Tirith. Oh well. :-D

oh yeah, I'd forgotten to add the US. I'll put it on, but postage will jump up to £7 ($10) so I don't know if it's still worth it.

UK - £44.95 + £4.95 postage

USA - $70.45 + $10.97 postage

Wah Whing: no worries, it was more that I had actually forgot to put it outside the UK as well if other people were interested. 2 years in Russia! Now that's certainly more than just a holiday  , studying there?

I've started a small side project. I've never worked much on anything elven but I've always liked the models and terrain. I tried using balsa wood however it snaps far to easily, so I stuck with foam for the moment. Styrene was also a possibility, but it's not the right thickness. Anyone got any other idea's I could create these detailed bits in? So here's a small start.

I have much the same problem. I am going to investigate laser cutting but I will need to learn CAD or some other drafting program.
I think you should make a mold of your building parts

If you have access to a laser cuter, the CAD/drafting part is pretty easy!
I'm nowhere near experienced, but most CAD programms I've used are pretty user-friendly.. if you can plan it in paper, you can pretty much do it way faster and better on the pc 8)

Btw very nice marketing approach on the ebay action Drumstick 8)

I might have to try doing that, but with only 4 weeks left until I leave for university there's not much point.

Small update: not sure if I'm happy with the roof though.. Think I made the arches too low as well, might restart - but it was just a very quick trial really.

You could say that. :-D I'll be doing a lot of walking and talking to strangers that's for sure. :-D

The terrain is looking fantastic! I really should finish my terrain. :x Keep up the good work. 8)

I've set my eyes upon my next and final project. Time has flown by and since I'll be moving to university in 3 weeks I'll be no longer updating this thread. So I shall leave you with a Minas Tirith building to continue with my previous models. Slightly different design, but nothing complicated. I've just used Sketchup for the 3D models.

Good luck with selling the building. It is expensive but it has to be because of the time you've put into it and also for its uniqueness.

As for Uni, take your projects with you. You'll probably have barely any lectures and the first year is pretty easy generally.

Captain: Cheers man, yeah it's annoying that it has to be so expensive, but it takes so much time to do otherwise it just wouldn't be worth the effort.

Warhammer: thanks, nice to see you around again man.

Oldman Willow: thanks :)

Update: I have finished the first wall section and so far it has turned out okay. The bricks are pretty awful as I didn't do them first, before I'd added the depth meaning it's a lot more difficult to score them in. I'll make sure I'll do that first time round on the next panel. It looks quite solid compare to my previous building, but tell me what you think.
