You've done a great job with Gil-galad, especially with his strange pose (having seen yours I want to paint mine up now) 8) Great work on Glorfindel so far as well 8)

Gil-galad is a goofy sculpt, but you really did a nice job on him...really liking the addition of the shield and the color scheme you used on it! :)
Glorfindel is looking really nice as well!

Best high elves I've seen, the armour is spot on. I also don't like that Gil-Galad model, mainly because the top of the spear breaks off without fail.

I'm not a fan of my paint job on Gil-galad myself... I don't know, I just don't think it's great. I won't be using him much, I guess. But thanks! The shield is a no brainer tactically, right?

Get painting yours Chris!

My mother grows them too 8) It reminds her of Florida where she spent a lot of time during WWII.

UPDATE:

Image

So I tried to get some painting done today, but the heat in the conservatory was causing my paints to dry up too quick to do much highlighting work - so I ended up quitting for now - still, got a little ways into doing Elladan & Elrohir!

I think you're going to produce one of the few sets of the twins that I actually like. I'm not keen on the GW sculpts (better than their first attempt but they still scream WH to me), and the standard paint jobs haven't helped. I know you're just starting but based on the way your other High Elves have turned out and these so far I think you're going to give me a new way to see these. I will still probably wait to see if the characters show up in the new films and GW gives us something based on that, but you at least inspire an interest in picking these up.

I can't wait to see how they turn out in the end!!

Yeah, the GW paint job is pretty boring and doesn't really fit with the current models, IMHO. Plus yeah, the sculpts aren't -great-, but I think I dislike the armoured sculpts more!

I'm trying to fit these into an allied unit of Rangers and Dunedain, so the unarmoured versions are better for that job, theme wise.

@ Everyone, I'm really unsure where to go with them next. I'm really scared of spoiling them with the wrong choice of colour, so I'd like some thoughts on what I have planned if that's okay?

I was thinking of doing the overcoat/cloaks predominantly black, with subtle highlights of a shadow-gray black mix (still very very incremental highlights). I planned this before seeing HobbitElrond, and now I'm sure I want their cloaks to be black. But I'm still kinda stumped on the tunics - I could leave them the same colour, but I think that'd be a bit boring. My other options are becoming hard to visual. I thought maybe a green like the Rangers of the North? They do fit into the Grey Company afterall, and their black cloaks would distinguish them from the other Rangers somewhat. It'd also help them fit into the Arnor army list.

Beautiful work on all those elves. I particularly like Gilly's shield - the blue and gold looks stunning. The greatest compliment I can give you is that I will steal this idea!

I really like your work on the twins so far too. I agree with you that black for the cloaks is a good option. An overall dark tone looks great set against the red highlights. Not sure about green for the tunic. Red and green don't go that well together. My gut feeling is that the tunic should be dark also - but I agree not black. Maybe a really dark green would work or a really dark blue? Then again, my colour choices can be abysmal so maybe just ignore me!
