I would like to include some Black Guard of Barad Dur, but I really don't like the models. Or at least, I don't like the exaggerated shields they come with (or the fact they are only in metal!)

I would also like to include some Mordor Uruk Hai, but the fact that there is only 6 poses keep me away.

Can anyone suggest some decent alternative models, or conversion sources?

Isengard uruks (cut the fans on the helmets, round the shields and change the falchions), Morannon Orcs, Easterlings (paint black with orc skin).

We are gonna try to convert mordor uruks (due to too few poses) from uruk scouts. To match the look we figured that we have to change the industrial looks of the uruks armor to match the mordor uruks.

Green stuffing cloth over the breastplate, doing some knife and greenstuff work to the helmets and adding some chainmail should do the trick. Weapon swaps is easy since we have a pile of weapons left over from our warg riders. That way we can get a broad variety of models.

I too plan on converting Uruk-hai Scouts and Warriors into Mordor Uruk-hai, but for financial reasons, not poses.

We havent started on doing mordor uruks yet, just planning it. We have far too many conversions to worry about first like a lone Frodo on Asfaloth (yeah we are doing the glorfindel thing ;) ) and a Mounted Gamling with the banner.

Otherwise I was thinking about converting the 4 left over uruk engineers from the siege set into mordor uruks as well. Never understood why you get 8 in the pack but only two bombs. Now if they replaced two engineers with another berserker and a bomb it would be a perfect kit.

I like that too, it's only the cost that's hideous.

Good luck with the Uruks 8)

I think 8 is GW's favourite number.

They can carry the ladders and rams too :!:

I did not take time to take a good photo :!: sorry :!:
You can use two per ladder or even one. 4 extra engineers, 4 ladders, perfect kit.
I converted some of mine to extra pikemen. The pike units need ladders too.

If your willing to go outside the realms of games workshop, Wargames factory make some large orcs for good value. http://wargamesfactory.com/webstore/myt ... rc-warband

If you gave them a LOTR skin colours cheme, and sculpted some red eye motifs on the shields I think they would look pretty good. :)

I added the photo 640X480 the same way I all ways do yet it is still large. Is anyone having trouble with Photo bucket?

There are lots of parts for head swaps if you can locate a dependable source for WF.

Use Wargames Factory orcs.

They are much cheaper, and are fantastic quality.

I've got a box sitting at home waiting to be assembled and painted.
