Here is my first piece of Moria terrain, inspired by Feanor's Dwarf Mines on TLA (and only my second terrain piece, the first being a small set of ruins). The main frame is made from spare pieces of sprue, glued together, with Green Stuff wrapped around the different pieces to look like rope. The wooden boards were made from pieces of card, strengthen with PVA glue, and the ladders were made from wooden skewers, cut down to the right size; the ladders and boards are detachable.
Everything was then painted with Rhinox Hide, and a wood grain pattern was painted on the ladders and main structure with Steel Legion Drab, with the wooden being washed with Steel Legion Drab instead. Six models can fit comfortably on the mine working, with two on the top layer, and four on the bottom; I hope to make many more of these.

Sweet! Awesome work man, your terrain is looking super. Hope to see more terrain work from you soon, and considering this was only your second try at terrain deserves even more of a clap. :yay:

Here we have my Finecast Elrond model, and my re-based High Elves. I did not notice the Mold line in Elrond's face whilst painting him, as it is only visible from certain angles (which is quite irritating) :x .

You should totally change the mould line into a scar!

I've always loved the idea of silver armour on Elves - I painted some up with a Snot Green based cloak/underskirts contrast before - and I think you made it look great here.

The silver armour does fit well. Yep another "fine" detail on Elrond's face... Good paint job though.

Thanks Shieldmaiden :D :D Having seen your Elves, that means a lot (and yours are better than GW's :) ) :D I'm not sure about turning it into a scar, I'll probably just fix it when I get round to Gil-galad

Thanks Sacrilege :D :D Wouldn't the mold line be on the metal models face as well?

The mold line could have been on a metal model too yes - tut tut Chris should have seen that one - it looks fine anyway mate - great job on Elrond, like the dark cloak especially (might have to give mine a cloak like it) really like the silver armour too, a refreshing change to the usual gold. Well done matey.

Just checked out my primed Elrond sitting on a shelf, and you know what you're right! LOL
It's barely visible and only noticeable at an angle. Bah I won't waste my time filing it down, but I'll have to take back my little remark about Finecast.

 The mold line is really beginning to annoy me now, even when I turn Elrond so I can't see it (or even so I can't see Elrond) I know it's there :o :o :o

I'll have to use your sprue idea for the scaffolding when I make my own. :yay: Very clever.
Elrond looks fantastic! 8) I thought of turning the mold line into a scar too when I saw it. :-D
You should fix that before it haunts you.
