Cheers Chris, the armor is just botlgun metal followed by a black ink wash. Haven't bothered with highlights on the armor because it's too time consuming for normal troops

Update:

These are the guys up next. I stripped them using nail polish remover and most of it has come off. Still some paint a little in crevasses that are quite difficult to get to, however most came off with a scrub of an old brush.

What do you guys think colour wise for the Minas Tirith? I'm not sure I'm happy with it yet.. ..

looks nice, soft colours. Maybe make the difference between the roof and walls bigger?

I really like what you've done with the house so far, although I agree with garmenhord in that there could be more contrast between the two colours, by either making the bricks paler, or the roof darker (like the dark grey you've shown in your design pictures) :yay: 8) All great work though, so keep it up 8)

Oh, the roof hasn't been done yet. I've only painted the walls to get the right colour first.

the walls look a bit too 'clean'
you could try adding some weathering around the corners and windows, there certainly would be some water damage under the roof and windows (water streaks coming down to about half way of the building)
if you're feeling particularly arty, you could add small details like some of the mortar getting washed out by the rain.

It all looks pretty damn good so far 8)

Minas Tirith also known as the white city. Looking at the films, buildings are pure white. If you can individualy paint the bricks white and leave the colour you have as the mortor (the bits inbetween the bricks) or whatever its called it should look great. I know its a pain and i respect your decision anyway because its an amazing project.

Looks fantastic. As others have said, more contrast between the walls and the roof would make it better.

The roof would look good as black or dark grey.

A little blue will make the roof look more like slate. Your tile and brick work looks great. :yay:

Have a good look at framecaplib for the scenes of MT - loads of references there.

I adore your MT scenery!

Thanks guys, you always keep me motivated to do more. :D

@polar: I'll definitely work on that once I've got the base colour I want for my buildings. Some good suggestions there so I'll keep them in mind.

@John Wayne: You mean completely block in each brick white? or just a dry brush white on the protruding bricks?

@King Ondoher: Yep, I'll try and get started on the roof as soon as.

@Oldman Willow: A small tint of blue will add just what we need. I'll keep that in mind when I get round to the roof.

@Dorthonion: sambuca! & yep I've been using that for references, it's a brilliant archive.

I have a small update on the paint side of things as well. Got those archers all based and painted now so they're looking a lot better. Start on the Citadel guards by blocking in the armor area with Boltgun metal. Sorry the lighting in those pictures is not the best, please excuse.
