@garmenhord: yep you got it.
Since I've recently been busy getting my Gondor army in shape, I've decided to make some terrain along with it. In fact I'll be making a diorama of a small section of Minas Tirith. It will be a two or three Gondorian houses up against the outer wall of Minas Tirith and I'm thinking of having a protruding battlement on the wall so that I can put my homemade trebuchet up there too - along with the archers when they are under siege by the orc's. I also got some work done on the trebuchet and got it base coated black followed by it's first brown coat. I think it needs one more coat, and then I'll start with distressing it and getting some highlights. I was thinking for on top of the wall I'll have some spears lined up and maybe an open fire caldron - can you think of any other idea's? One thing however that is quite time consuming is that I have to carve two pieces of foamboard to fit together so I achieve the thickness needed for the pillars. But otherwise thing's should be simple enough.
So far I've worked out the measurements of most of the building and have started with the exterior arches. I'm going to try and get lots of depth in this building so it doesn't just look flat and boring. So the plan is to have everything handmade in the diorama apart from the troops and pillars which are hirst arts (because they have pretty pillars and I partially couldn't be bothered making any). I've posted the picture of the plan that was on sketchup, which will go along with my weekly progress. I also got a head start on the archers getting 3 more done today with their first coat of chainmail on the amour.
Any idea's or helpful tips would be much appreciated. I'm hoping to make a guide on how to build this, but we'll see what happens.
These will be done in two separate pieces.
Note: Pillars are not attached yet.Just a demonstration of the roof angle and what they small roofed inner part might be like.
