Today i was checking some profiles while playing with the army builder and i noticed the following:
A Minas Tirith knight costs 14 points(with shield)
A Dol Amroth knight costs 19 points(lance,armoured horse)

Their difference is that the dol amroth knight has +1 fight value,+1 courage and his horse has +1 defence.

So my question is: does is worth to give an extra 5 points per model to get these bonuses or its just a waste of points?

Remember that if you bring imrahil you also get a banner re-roll for all your knights

I know..With imrahil i have less knights but better chances of winning fights.

But with minas tirith knights at the same points i get 4 MT knights at the price of 3 DL ones

I think it ends up working out, considering that if you charge models with a lower fight you have a 16% greater chance of winning the fight, plus the banner reroll adds another +16% bonus, plus you are 50% more likely to survive S2 shooting...that can be worth the lower numbers. It really comes down to how and where you use them.

The KoDA also have lances, which gives them a MUCH better chance of wounding.

minas tirith knights have lances too(as the profile says they have keen lances)
Seems to me that is what whafrog said. KoDA can win a bit easier and survive a bit more than the minas tirith knights. The thing is that you give 30% more points per model to get that sustain.

I havent had much experience with cavalry thats why i asked if they worth the extra cost. But after the replies i think that a KoDA cavalry is worth the cost

Cavalry can be tricky to use. Just remember, if you aren't charging, you are a very expensive 1-attack model with no extra bonuses. Use your heroes' might to make heroic moves if you lose priority; and heroic combats can be especially effective.

Oh ya, now I feel stupid.

But yes, they are definitely worth it if you include Imrahil. Not only is he a great hero, but all of his Knights get a re-roll.
