Thanks for the kind comments! The eyes are painted with the same colours as the Ring, i.e. orange over dark red base, white highlights and yellow glaze (no metals at all). I just noticed that in the photo it looks like there is a black pupil painted on his left eye. I swear I did not paint it there and it does not really exist. :-)

PowerOfWill, that Sauron of yours looks really good, I admire anyone who can paint directional light and make it look right. I noticed that the chainmail in the front is a bit flat, maybe an extra wash would bring some more contrast between the chain links? Other than that, awesome job!

-- Pasi

Oh, yeah. I noticed that too, but completely forgot about it. Thanks for pointing that out!
I love the ring and the eyes on your Sauron, they really stand out and make it look really cool.

I gave him "command stripes" to stand out (like a twenty foot tall man needs help with that) and match the rest of the leaders in my Mordor army. The stripes are inspired by the command stripes worn by NASA astronauts (weird, I know).

I like the rusty weapon, but why didn't you make any base for him?

gaaaa.... a wizard did it! I don't know why I didn't base it. I was really anxious to get it done. I will base it tonight, if I am allowed to change pictures.

Well, I can't find a Sauron anywhere and don't want to spend over $50 for it. So here's the beginnings of my own Sauron.
Let's see how far I can get on it!

Sounds interesting, lookig forward to seeing more.

And count me in aswell, will probably start tomorrow.

Though really this is a painting competition, so the base shouldn't matter......Though it does tend to be a tie-breaker for me personally. :)

Wow - great work by everyone so far. PoW you have really pulled out all the stops for this one - the fire glow effect on the rocks and Sauron's robes and armour is brilliant. Pasi - a beautiful paint job as always - if only I could paint as well as you. Montizzle - great highlighting on Sauron's weapon.

I'm no match for you guys but happy to make up the numbers. Tried a more scenic base this time. Can't seem to make that second pic smaller - sorry.
