I played a game with the Balrog yesterday with the goal of using him to kill enemy heroes, however in my first duel he got killed, lol. But I'm sure it wasn't played right so let me explain:-

I Dueled Aragon - he had fight 10 and I had fight 11 - I rolled a 3 and he rolled a 6. So he had 2 dice to roll on the duel table and proceeded to roll two 4's.

Now this is my question, my opponent said that as I had taken 2 hits which is equal to my resilience I'm dead. Is that correct? When does the EHTK table get used? Prior to this battle I had no wounds so I was gutted he was dead so quick.

Thanx everyone :puppy:

You took two hits which was equal to your resilience, so he could roll once on the EHTK, and you would not have died! Each time he rolls on the EHTK table you add the number of wound counters until you get to the dead level for the Balrog.
Hope this helps!

@NLJT - as Leonidas says, your opponant (your ex maybe?) still had to roll on the Table. Although in the wording of heroic duel, it says that once a hero suffers hits equal to his resilience, he is slain, but remember that ?Hard to Kill, Very Hard to Kill, Extremely Hard to Kill etc... are an override of the normal rules that a model is removed when it suffers enogh hits. The hard to Kill etc rules do NOT cease to applty in a Heroic Duel, thus your Balrog was fine. It's the same for all Monster heroees eg Treebeard, Great Eagles, Dragons, Gulavhar, Burdhur, Troll Chftns etc, their hight fight is so they can do well in duels as well. I believe you are in need of a rematch.

Yeah Gothmog the ex!!!!!!! The thing is, the other guys have played a lot longer then me, so when they say something I believe them, I thought that was too easy to kill a 500 point beast.

just to clarify, it was just to kill it with 2 hits (resilience of 2) , not duel it. seemed odd for that many points too.
