Well, I'm back, though I've never really been gone. I've been working on easterlings for a while. They're some of my favorite mini's, and they're a lot of fun to paint, but they can take a while. I'm quite happy with how they turned out though.

My test mini.

Let me know what you guys think.
I want to do a poll to ask you what you want me to paint next, but I want to ask DMS first, cause it's his idea, so if you're reading this please let me know if it's okay with you. Thanks!

-Pow

Very very nice! What paints did you use for the red?

Glad to see you've still been working. Nice easterlings, though the brown to tan on the back cloths is too sudden imo. The shading on the red is nice though. :yay:

Thanks for the comments! @Bastion.HUN, I used vallejo paints for the red(actually I pretty much only used vallejo with them), but I can't remember their names of the top of my head, but they are the equivilants of GW's Scab Red, Red Gore, and Blood Red. I also used scorched brown and a few washes on the red.
@theavenger001, thanks! The highlights on the tan cloth is a bit sudden, it would probably look better if I wasn't batch painting, but I'll probably go back and tidy them up a bit.

I'm currently working on their bases and adding a few small details to them too, I should be able to get some pictures up by tomorrow, maybe.

Okay, here are the pics. I'm testing out another set up for pictures, so any advice you have is appreciated. I think they turned out pretty good though.
As for the miniatures themselves, I've finished the bases and added a wood grain type design on the back of the shields. The bases were especially fun because I wanted to do something different, so I painted them the same way I usually do, then took some regular static grass and put it in a pot with some black paint and water and mixed it all up and let it sit until all the water was gone, stirring occasionally. The result is what you see in the pics. I'm really pleased with how it turned out, though they might be a bit to dark. Anyway, here they are.

I was going to use this for the November painting challenge, but I never got around to it. The highlighting on the grey is a bit rough, but I'm pretty happy with it. Let me know what you guys think.

He looks great - I wouldn't say the highlighting on the grey was rough at all , it looks authentic 8)
