i'm gonna have to restart my whole mini, by putting it in the simple green then stripping it down because after I started the basecoat for gimli's cloak....i noticed that the sculpt was TERRIBLE, i mean there were lines I had totally missed when I was sanding it down during assembly....anyways let's hope I can get it finished in time....

Nobody is submitting Gimili on dead Uruk-Hai? Think I might have to change my entry.

Hi all

Thought I'd stop my lurking here and get amongst it with a painting challenge. Here's my unpainted model: Gimli from the Breaking of the Fellowship set, converted with banner instead of throwing axe. I still haven't fixed him up with greenstuff yet. Please forgive the rubbish photo too.

I haven't decided whether it should be a Dwarf banner (an obvious choice) or a Galadhrim banner that he's picked up on a battlefield after the final heroic stand of its previous bearer (to emphasize the whole "Gimli as elf-friend" theme). I might try both and see how they look. Anyway, nice to meet you all. Looking forward to seeing some painted Dwarves!

Good to see so many entrants this month! Jake, you're going to have a tough time at the end collating all those pics.

Here's one more mate :P

hey everyone,

well i'm going to have to opt out of this competition for this month because I am still disappointing by my gimli scultp.

The cloak is Terrible, i mean after I filed it sanded it and juiced it with milliput, it Still has mold lines and other things in the crevaces that when painted makes the cloak look terrible.

I do not want to enter a piece of mine that I know I can do much better on....so....

Good luck everyone!
can't wait to see those entries!

Sorry to hear Feanor. You're more than welcome to enter with a different sculpt should you come across one.

no, since most of my models are elves, the only dwarf I had was that gimli from the three hunters set...

Very nice dwarves, I cant wait for the end of the month.

By the way, I have an idea for the next painting challenge. We should paint common soldiers. We should vote for an army, like gondor or harad, and in the next month we have to make 5-6 soldier from the same formation. Like 5 minas tirith warriors.
I think it would be intresting to see common figures in a challenge. ;)

Not a bad idea. I will throw it into the voting thread as one of the options for the next 'special theme' painting challenge (the March painting challenge).

5 -6 is to many, maybe just 4? :x 4 common soldiers with a small diorama of 4 slots like a half movement tray  ?
