One Day War

One Day War is a single day event for Lord of the Rings: Strategy Battle Game. It is 600pts and will be using the new rules for armies laid out in the Lord of the Rings Armybooks. This is the first tournament using the new system and an excellent chance to experiment with army building whilst having a fun, relaxed day gaming at the heart of the hobby itself. There are only 20 places available and will be given on a first come first serve basis, the deadline for confirmation is the 31st March. Read the rulespack for information on how to confirm your attendance or drop me a private message via the forum or through jamie.giblin@live.co.uk and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Where and when is it?
- Warhammer World Nottingham, NG7 2WS
- Saturday 7th April 2012

What will I need?
- A single Good OR Evil 600pt list, that is made using the Army book rules.
- Some money for food and drink/packed lunch as none will be provided (to keep the day cheap).

How much will it cost?
- Just £5. That's simply to cover the cost of running the event.

If people reckon there needs to be an FAQ for certain things missed out/not changed then voice them in this thread (such as Gandalf the White not having Sorcerous Blast and Kardush's wounds being 2 not 1 etc.)

The rules pack has been altered to fit in with the new warbands system, check it out if you fancy coming along let me know.

I'm interested but not sure yet if i can make the date so was planning to get in touch once i know. I presume from the updated rules that you've removed the stipulations about not being able to use Legolas or saruman the white?

I was going to allow all characters regardless, so long as you only have one of the named heroes in your force, anything goes

Hi James, I haven't seen the new rules yet, I understand the army selection process is now 1 hero, 12 warriors... I'm quite interested in attending as I've yet to visit Warhammer World (afraid I won't want to leave!) and it would be good to get back into the competitive gaming process. Had a great time in Wakefield a few years back if you remember, and would be nice to meet some of the faces from TLA. Are you guys arriving on Friday in time, as I think travelling from Liverpool will take the best part of 4 hours... I guess it would be good practice for when the GT comes around next

I do remember Wakefield, that was my first tournament and I believe your partner used an illegal army Balin backed up by Tunnel Fighting teams, disgraceful. But that's allowed now.

The army building system is pretty much what you said except all areas are grouped together (e.g. Durn's Folk/Khazad-Dum/Erebor are now just 'Dwarves') and there are no allying restrictions besides the 33% bow limit as per LoME. There have been a few points changes for some models like Haradrim Warriors etc. but on the whole everything is the same.

If you fancy coming PM me and if you're down on the Friday then we can go through the new books then and sort out any inconsistencies in your list
