We knew it - Those slimy Elves were mixed up in the Rohavian bandit attack all along! Here they are, trying to sneak up on Ulfric's farmstead at dusk. They've developed a little more spine since they heard word that the Witch-King is TEMPORARILY indisposed but they still mince over the snow-drifts rather than wading through like a burly Carn Dum Huscarl. They may be planing on using their cats-eyes to strike from the gathering dark like the cowards they are... but the closing shadows can conceal other horrors than a Nazgul. The Wraiths have withdrawn to husband their forces (even with them a hundred leagues away, none dare call them cowards) but we can still spring some nasty surprises.

This was a 1000 pt WOTR clash (field of swords and shieldwalls) between the brave heroes of Carn Dum and the cowardly Elves.

The Elves had brought Cirdan and Thranduil, at the head of a unit of High-Elven Cohort, a pair of units of Wood-Elven Archers and one units of Galadrim with Shields.

In their turn, the current King of Carn Dum led three formations, five coy strong, of Carn Dum warriors. Two Cheiftains led a formation each. Another smaller unit of two Siege bows took up position to defend Ulfric's farm while Buhrdur lurked once more in ambush and a new threat, the winged serpent Gulhavar joined the counterattack on the Elves. We played this using houserules.

Normally I would be cheering on whoever is playing on the Good army, but because it's Elves I will admit I was cheering on the barbarians the whole report. Amusing commentary and a joy to read as always.

Poor elves. They are getting such a bad press.

Will there be a rematch?

Thanks guys, positive feedback is always welcome! :)

The noble pastoralists of the Carn Dum Plateu are the heroes in their own telling, which has to counter-balance decades of pro-Western lies at the hands of that propagandist JRRT.

Gmtw, yes by the time I houseruled them to death suddenly there seemed to be less incentive to have them and suddenly other things seemed like reasonable alternatives. The Wraiths will return but with modified WOT, only SfC on own troops. Monsters on the other hand, were only absent in the first-place because I lacked models. I got that fig VERY cheaply and not from a game store. The changes to Wraiths can easily be made myself as I play them so I guess no excuse to not to, whatever the context, and I probably deserve a good ribbing if ever caught using Wraiths with mastery 3 and the spells as written.

There will be a rematch vs the Elves, and others. Damn cattle-thieves and lackeys of the Valar are forever trying to nick our stuff. I think I get to play as so called 'good' this week though.

Cheers
