You can buy a 60mm round base here. The bitz store ebay shop is great for things like this.

Thanks for all the help with a base, we might have been lucky. More news when it arrives.

In case you're thinking of converting crossbowmen, here's my dad's work, with three of the convered uruk hai. He says:

"Curtis got some of the metal crossbowmen for his birthday, but prices later shot up on eBay so I thought I'd try the conversion. I got the idea, including a source for the crossbows (Gripping Beast) here. Thanks to charluke for swapping the six uruk hai we used. As long as you don't count the cost of the bows, the greenstuff, all the superglue and a razor saw, the conversion was a bargain! You need to move one, or two, arms closer together to hold the bow. I found that cutting the Uruk Hai at his left elbow, just above the armour (top two pics), gives the most natural-looking result, but you can only do this with one of the two, 'pike down' versions. The conversion would also work well with the pike up version, as shown on the hourofwolves link, you'd simply drill a bigger hole so the Uruk Hai is carrying the crossbow vertically.

UnfortunateIy I messed these up with too much primer - also I made square leather 'ammo bags' for the bolts from greenstuff, but rushed too much so Curtis could use them for a game the next day - they got a bit squashed when I was gluing on the crossbow and they now look more like rucksacks  ." Cheers, the Troll-father

Great looking conversions, I will probably get around to doing this sometime, those metal crossbowmen are so expensive. :-X
Also, great job on the painting, I especially think you did a good job on the troll, it looks superb. (almost) Anybody can paint uruk-hai decently, but there is a lot less people who could paint that troll as nicely as you did. :yay:

I painted this King of Man today for my friend who's just getting into Warhammer. We did it in record time, around one and a half hours for him and a warrior of Gondor. My dad did the eyes and some of the flesh, but i did all the clothes and everything else. The outer gown is dark flesh highlighted in red gore. The inner gown is shadow grey highlighted in space wolves grey, and the sleeves are also space wolves grey.Everything else is quite obvious. I know I'm not as good as you guys but at least I'm improving.

Nice job on the King of Men. The red looks very good as does the grey, especially seeing as grey coloured robes (along with white and black) are one of the more difficult to paint. You really managed to get a good amount of depth on the robes, great work. And your dad did a good job of painting the eyes, they're very neat and tidy.
