This is the GW ruined tower kit. I believe it is called Dreadstone Blight. I liked the look of the tower, but really disliked all the decorations. So I removed them. I wanted this to look generic. I used Apoxie Sculpr to redo all the detail I removed.

This is how it ended up:

Looks good. I've been thinking of getting it too.

That is great! I've been working on exactly the same thing, but I don't have a dremel, so carving has been quite tedious. I like how you filled in the skulls with your own carved blocks, looks very natural. Great paint job too...

Thanks folks!

After I finished drybrushing the tower, I was not 100% happy. I ended up misting it white with my airbrush to blend everything together. I would love to see progress of your tower! It is really a great model...just too ornate for my tastes.

Ah yes I remember when I first saw the tower in the White Dwarf magazine. I couldn't really make my mind up about it, but I much prefer it the way you have got it - good job! Your dwarven banner looks very good as well, he reminds me of a Viking with his helmet and blond hair. Look forward to more.

Some figures I have been working on. Still have some cleanup to do and highlights.

The face is giving me issues on this one. In my opinion, just not one of their better sculpts. I also have to straighten out the flag a bit :)

Sam and Frodo...I love the models. Need to clean them up a bit...dirty them up and work on some highlights. I think if I paint them again, I will put them together on one base.

Thanks guys!! I am just "rediscovering" the hobby after about a year off. Been picking up and painting models. Love this stuff! Got some terrain I am working on as well. I don't get to photo the models as much as I would like, so I tend to do it in batches.

More stuff:
An ENT. Never really loved this GW version of it. It is ok I guess. I add some linchen, then sprinkled some flock on it to give it a little depth and detail.

Next up are some Rohirrim I am working on. My goal is to eventually paint the 60 I have. I am realizing now....that I need some conversions as the dozen I have painted are looking.....like a clone army.

Gondor. I love these guys.

How long did it take to de-Warhammer the tower?

Honestly....not sure. I would say about 3-4 hours? Give or take. Not at one sitting. I just used a dremel to grind away what I did not want, they used Apoxie Sculpt to add back the stone work. It was my first time with A.S. I found it to be very easy to work with.
