This is looking great. I think you made the right choice with the buttresses. How do you go about painting this stuff?

Thanks matey, yes I think single buttresses were the right way forward. For painting.... .. well to be honest I haven't thought that far ahead. I'm not one for planning things out, just doing them.

I don't know if it's really needed to paint this thing. It stands well like that :) but who knows how much better it might get when painted :o

Wow I would certainly buy this if I had the money. If you're designing it for 40k some gothic features or aquilas would help that along.
Keep up the good work though 8)

Hey guys, recently I've kind of drifted away from the lotr section so this thread kind of died out a little. But not to worry I've started making some osgiliath pieces again. I'm kind of stuck again how to get that Osgiliath stone look, any suggestions? It's just a little project so tell me what you guys think.

black base coat followed by a *heavy* drybrush of grey and quite a large amount of white highlights? Occasionally adding a bit of very faint yellow in the places that wouldn't be seen much? to represent the masons using bad stone? (have some experience in that :E )

well thats the best i can come up with, hope it helps 8)

Not to worry, I sorted the Osgiliath stone colour. I used a light brown undercoat, followed by a dry brush of fortress grey and some white. Well here's the finished product, tell me what you think.

ehe cheers mate, that was a quick reply.

I've also got another thing I've started working on. I found my old mumakil out in the garage and felt so sorry I thought I should give him a little more life. Mind you it's a little difficult since it's already made up (easier to paint before assembly) and there are a few pieces missing including an ear, tusk and the small flags up front. The crew is long dead if I remember, so there is nobody to drive this beast.

Looks good but the base needs a bit more detail.
It looks a bit unrealistic to me at the moment, but maybe it's just the picture.
If not, try a coarser type of sand.
And several browns and a bit more atention to the rim. (It looks like pieces of the rim have chipped of.)

But the ruin itself looks very good.
nice choice for the grey-brownish colours (mind if I steal that idea for my Tharbad board?) :)

Just saw the update. (I'm really interested in the Mumak, I have one in a very similar condition for the summer holidays).

A bit of topic but well...
@ Garmenhord try Marktplaats.nl it has some really good bargains from time to time.
(search for lord of the rings or lotr in the warhammer and wargaming section.)
