ehe cheers fellas, I got a little more done today but can't really be bothered to load them up.

It's insulation low density board, it's really not very nice to work with for it's all bubbley and rubbish. It's all I have so it'll have to do, only good thing is it's quite cheap and comes in large sheets of 8 or 9.

It looks great, and feels rocky from the start. :)

hey folks, just a quick update for you today. I finished the otherside of the cathedral where I cut out all the windows and detailed pieces in the foamcore. I've also added a little design around the side of the base for I thought it was a little blank. Seems to have worked so I'm rather happy. Apart from that I added the two windows on the towers, although as you can see there were a few mistakes done with the router.

The last picture is just a quick shot of the inside, there isn't a great deal of space but then again you can't the other side (behind the arches). I'm thinking of elevating on the outer bit where the arches are so that there is a little more depth and also it means there is more room for the roof.
So progress so far is slow but steady, Any suggestions to improve it so far?

ehe Thanks Willow.

I just started on the flying butresses.. what do you think? I feel it's lacking something.....

The chunky piece is just made out of the low density foamboard, while the actual "flying" piece is just two foamcore pieces stuck together.

Quick question, wha should I do? Go with method 1, which is just the normal one OR go with method 2 where there are 2 'flying' pieces... (of cource there will be a longer top piece to connect up to the higher wall) Also should i have these flying butresses every 2 windows or 1?

Looking good Drum! Can't wait to see it finished, these days a lot of people are working on their own Osgiliath or just other ruins, it's great to see all this variation and fantasies of people, the way they have a look at everything, lovely.. and so is this masterpiece! (:
I enjoy watching what new terrain you show us, I like the details you give them, keep up! ;)

Two or one is hard to say. If you try a buttress between each window make the whole buttress from foam core,Buttress plain # 2 looks better to me.

A quick update, didn't get much done but I had some time to finish off the flying butresses. They do look a little off because i haven't glued them yet, the whole cathedral is just standing on it's own (apart from the towers which have some tape to keep them together) Decided to go for every 2 windows because otherwise it looks way too cluttered.

This is looking great. I think you made the right choice with the buttresses. How do you go about painting this stuff?

Thanks matey, yes I think single buttresses were the right way forward. For painting.... .. well to be honest I haven't thought that far ahead. I'm not one for planning things out, just doing them.

I don't know if it's really needed to paint this thing. It stands well like that :) but who knows how much better it might get when painted :o

Wow I would certainly buy this if I had the money. If you're designing it for 40k some gothic features or aquilas would help that along.
Keep up the good work though 8)

Hey guys, recently I've kind of drifted away from the lotr section so this thread kind of died out a little. But not to worry I've started making some osgiliath pieces again. I'm kind of stuck again how to get that Osgiliath stone look, any suggestions? It's just a little project so tell me what you guys think.
