I prefer the look of your Feb 10th post. The cape and arrows does it for me, it's a nice scheme. I've looked at plenty of pics and galleries, and the method in the way that you paint garmen seems to be unique to you. If there was a lineup of miniatures from various artists including yourself, I think I would be able to pick yours out.

Your paint jobs are definitley getting better.
If I may criticise I think you should got for less radical colours and paint jobs and tone it down to more simpler schemes. You have green highlights on white robes and your mixing colours that dont really work together, green blue gold brown etc. It doesn't mean what you have done isn't good, quite the opposite but it would be interesting to see what you do with a basic high elf, like the ones in the movie. That is, Gold armour, brown for shafts and leather and white and blue robes with it's own respective highlight, ie, blue highlight for blue.

Ty for the comments guys
I guess i am a quite messy painter in some way. I totally agree that the previous elf looked better.
I don't have any blues - maybe i should buy some more paints - caus it's really limited what i have now. But i am quite broke and still got other things to pay... bustickets,... And yes my colour schemes are not always that good. :) Just trying out stuff. :-)

Keep being creative Garmenhord. While some of your stuff may not work out just right, sometimes unusual color combinations can really work out well, and make your work stand out from others. Yes, the first elf looked better, but you'll never know until you try it out. The main thing that I would work on is brush control. Just being a little neater with your application will help tons!

I like your style. It's very unique and has a 'painterly' quality to it. The bat swarm in particular looks some kinda nightmarish oil painting come to life.

I don't know, I see you as kind of the Van Gogh (unique painter) of One Ring. The reason why I like the cape of the Feb 10th posting is that even though it has multiple colors it works well together. Gives off the impression that the texture is cashemere, velvet, you know some expensive clothing material with different colored hues to it. That model seems to give an autumn/summer feeling to it, while the next seems to be some toxic waste swamp elf (hope that didn't come out as harsh). Well it's neat that you're experimenting multiple painting schemes while most would make them uniformed. I guess these elves would suit well for Battle Companies.

I got rid of that "lava" base. I started to dislike that warhammer base next to my regular trolls. I made a cheap base myself in stead. :)
Image
Since i wanted to do this for a while... I started the Huron/ent ... not sure what it is ... smaller then regular ent in each case
I placed the last bits of green stuff on it. Luckely i got a brand new pack waiting in the freezer for me (lying there from christmas time.)
I guess those branches will be enoying to sculpt overall around it. I still might change the pose - but the green stuff needs to dry first. Those arms aren't attached decently - I guess it's best to wait to attach it to the base? I think it might be in the way when sculpting. But it would be handy if it had something to stand on steady...

Don't worry - The troll is mainly not painted by me (the lava troll - the body is painted by a shop keeper who wanted to show me how to paint on a white basecoat). Plus that base i have fixed some days ago :) . I only did that armature today. But if it motivates u go ahead. :-D
I should paint to a bit.. but i got a cold and a slight headache so i think i ll pass... x-) Otherwise i would have been working for school to probably :p

It seems that i have a heavy bronchite. Explains alot...
Ok here is the start i made today
Image
I hope it's going the right direction for bark. I tryd to make something like a knee in the bark , then realising it was like way to high... But i guess it doesn't disturb to much?.

Oh this looks like a fantastic start! Do you have to constantly wet the model? Also I think it might be easier if you just put blobs of it first, let them dry and then put on the detail. Heard it's easier, but do what works best for you.

I added the second leg - but i am kinda stuck on the pose i want. I almost want to put him on fire.... But then again maybe better not... I have no clue what would fit him best to do.

Ok i sorted out what pose i will get, Ent spying behind some rocks..
Image
He feels like a really skinny tree.. Might make him thicker afterwards... But maybe i should start with some branches first - that will make it lot clearder to see what's should be added i guess..

I like what you have done with your tree. The cork rocks look really good. :D
Fire is really simple to make. Paint some cotton balls red and yellow and stretch them out.

Image

The photo is a D&D tree with a plastic tree armature stuck in a hole drilled in his head. The fire is a commercial product. I did not glue it or anything. I just put it there for a quick photo. I use the fire as wreck markers for Flames of War.
