I was going to make the hill as you can see.

I am not sure at this point. I saw the figure by Thomarillion. I am going to try to sculpt the seat. Griffins might be easier?

I found some new Photos and I am going to adjust the model of Amon Hen. I need to cast mold #60 a few more times so that the brick pattern will look better.I need to cast mold #53 a few more times for the bases of the griffins. I need afew more stair parts as well.

Image

I think I might include the hill after all. I have been looking at the lotrscenery builder's The Anduin - Parth Galen I have decided to copy his plain using Hirst arts blocks. Amon Hen will be at the top of the hill. http://lotrscenerybuilder.org/parth_galen.php

I will work out and swap out a few details and glue it up. Then if the weather allows I will cast up what I need for the new stair ways and ruins. There is a rail road show this weekend. I will be able to pick up what I need to finish the trees.

A couple years ago, when LOME was released, Jervis Johnson (in white dwarf) mentioned this guy he met.

Jervis wrote:

You wouldn't happen to be that guy would you?

I never met Jervis Johnson.I don't think he was at the Games Days in Atlanta. I do make a lot of terrain for the clubs and the game stores. I have hosted a convention or two.It could have been Howard or Dennis. It is more likely someone who lives in Europe.

I was joking of course :-D I was simply complimenting you.
I am now seriously considering buying some HA moulds, those pieces you made with them are really nice. :)

I was too. I don't think Jervis was literally talking about any one person in his article. However, I have always been that guy.
Charlie can I borrow ten tables for the Warhammer tournament? Are you sure that's all you need? I have been doing that for as least as long as Jervis and GW. The guys at work used to joke I was the survivalist in Tremors or Westley Snipes when he was the Washington Detective. My Lieutenant used to refer to my house as the bomb shelter because of all the lead lining the walls.I took it as a joke and a compliment.

I started on The LOTRscenerybuilder inspired stairway for Amon Hen . I need to cast the tower mold about 20 times.

Image Image Image Image

I may make some changes to my Amon Hen plain. I did not notice and should have used a different landing at the top and recessed the stair a little. Then the short slope stair parts would look better. I started weathering the columns. I am going to make the short version and decide which version looks best.
Parth Galen is still in the early stages. I need to decide which arches to use for the tomb buildings and ruin walls. I like http://www.lotrscenerybuilder.org/index.php idea and may have to make a custom mold.
Suggestions will be most helpful :!:

Foamboard for parth galen would probably be easier. cut large pieces and make the edges ruined, where appropriate, and then draw in the cracks and stonework with your hobby knife, then widen them with a graphite pencil. texture with a bit of polyfilla and paint to taste :)

That way, it won't be too heavy even though it's a large piece.

Looking good, Oldman!

Like the Bucklandbrewer said, you have already built up an impressive collection of scenery pieces... :yay:

Don’t worry about the fun being over way too soon: I’ll bet these bird’s head sphinxes will give you a good time... (can’t wait to see them finished!)

BTW, have you been here:

Are you aiming for a comparable table? If so, you’ve got a lot of work ahead, mate... :)

That is an impressive table. I have very poor Spanish but I was able to follow. The administrator has an impressive avatar. The seeing seat was very well done as well. I like his natural trees, They make me want to try sagebrush armatures.Thank you for pointing it out. That was my first visit to that site.
Yes, that is what I have in mind. I don't mind the work. Thanks for the link it will be very useful.

I am going to try to get the old forest repaired and back in the box this weekend so that I can start casting for this project. I ordered two molds last night and was advised today they have been shipped. Chris is casting an order for me as well.I have to build a tree house next week for my baby sisters children and a crib for my new grandniece. I don't know how I did all this before I retired.

I painted my Amon Hen to match two griffins I received in trade. It is a little lighter than I would have made it. I still need to seal it and glue the columns in. Now would be a good time for suggestions on improving the color. I am going to try to start on the seat. We will see how that turns out.

Why didn't you just repaint the Griffins to match your darker Amon hen? That would have been quicker surely?

I would say a couple of brown and green washes over the exsisting paint job on amon hen and the griffons would do the trick to darken it a bit. Personaly though I think it looks great and wouldnt change a thing.

I was not happy with the dark colors and I wanted to see if I could match what was done with the griffins. I have to cast a lot more parts for this project. The building is actually sort of easy to make. I think I might try something different with the stair now I have a more accurate plan. Did you like the way the darker one looked better? I am not sure.

No actually I prefer the lighter color, I was just thinking of your workload that's all. I have to admit, those Griffin statues are painted quite nicely. I think you made the right choice. :) Some nice product placements too in your pictures. You'll soon have to start charging me. 8)

I plan to use this model as a stand alone model. I am planing a table similar to the games day table. I will have to build the seeing seat a little differently.I have built one the next one will be better.
