I will be hosting my Pellenor Fields SBG game at the Hammerhead wargames show, Kelham Hall, Newark on Sunday 13th February 2011. Some of you may have seen it or even taken part but this year it's bigger than ever. As well as the familiar model of Minas Tirith towering over the table top (it stands about eight feet off the floor), there will be eleven siege towers crashing against the walls, a hundred Rohirrim gloriously charging onto the table, three ships disgorging the Grey Company and a triple dose of Mumakil to stir things up.

It's a participation game so everyone is welcome to join in for as long as they like, and the show itself has a wealth of traders and other demonstration games so it's worth a visit. Incredibly bad timing has the LOTR SBG Grand Tournament just down the road at Warhammer World but non-tournament players may wish to go for spectacle rather than rules-bashing.

More details of the show can be found on the website: http://www.hammerhead.org.uk/hammerhead2011.html

I'd love to come but the airfare is a little prohibitive with my current budget! Ha!

Might be a little easier to join in from Kentucky if a potential relocation to Toronto comes off - if I go, Minas Tirith comes with me!

This was originally a TLA-sponsored event but now it's by and for anyone who loves SBG. If I get time to take pics I'll happily post them, but last time I spent much of the time explaining the games system and introducing newcomers to the genre - which was a major reason for doing it. Turn them from the Dark Side of 40K and towards Lord of the Rings!

I've found that just about anyone who gives it a try really enjoys the game. I had quite a bit of success with Battle Companies as an intro to the game. The problem for me has been getting a self-sustaining group of gamers together...It's just so much easier to bring-and-battle with 40K.
