It bothers me they're making it 3D though, since my eyes become all irritated by it, but if I don't watch it in 3D, I'm afraid I'll miss some of the spectacle.:p

Still, it's about time!xD

Martin Freeman is going to be a busy guy, considering he is also Dr John Watson in the BBC modern-era Sherlock Holmes series (excellent stuff!)

Also, there's still the small matter of the second studio (MGM) emerging from bankruptcy. Everyone's assuming that will go alright, but the saga probably isn't complete yet.

Well its about gosh darn time!!! :)

Do you think Ian Holm will narrate? Are they going to use the second film to tell about the Necromancer, or are they still sticking with a "bridging the gap" story? I don't know why I'm asking these questions, there's probably no definitive answer...

ROFL at the picture.

I think they changed the idea about creating the gap, although I prefer that idea more than a two parter hobbit.

Yeah! Can't wait for the movie now, and lets hope it will kick start interest back in our game, and herald more miniature releases from GW :-)

Well, as long as those new minis are quality designs, I'll vote for that. I don't think anyone wants more Warhammer proportions like there were with the first run of SKoDA helmets.

Hi, I'm not just a miniature supplier, but I am also a great fan of Lord of the Rings. Anyway,

Apologies if this has already been posted, but I read the following in the London freebie newspaper Metro today. Confirmations of other actors in the new movie...

Cate Blanchett reprising her role as Galadriel
Ken Stott to play Balin
James Nesbitt to play Bofur
Sylvester McCoy to play Radagast the Brown
Mikael Persbrandt to play Beorn
Adam Brown to play Ori

Gollum and Gandalf (Andy Serkis and Sir ian McKellern) still to be confirmed apparently.

Thanks,

Mike

Good news all around. I'm kinda curious why Galadriel's going to be in it, though. And are they gonna get Hugo Weaving to return as Elrond? I hope so.

@OldManWillow: Where do you find those Dalek minis?

I'm kinda curious why Galadriel's going to be in it, though.

Galadriel is part of the White Council during the war with the Necromancer.
