I just bought some very badly painted space marines for a good price
So what I'm trying to do is make them look somewhat good.

Here is an old ultra marine sargant I painted, the problem is I just can't get the armor to look good,
does anyone here know how to masterclass ultramarines?

Thanks that was actualy my first cadian I ever painted, it was from a set my brother bought, I sort of borrowed it to try to paint:)

I would suggest that you dull the highlighting a bit. I think that's the key problem. It actually looks great and with a slightly less bright highlight on the power armour, it'd instantly solve your qualms with it. Use the current highlight as a tiny dot in corners on the shoulderpads after the new highlight and it should look even more awesome!

Ok I haven't realy done that much to the paint job yet but I added some scenery to the base, I think it makes it look fairly good, what do you think?

Your Ultramarine is looking pretty good. The highhlights need a little touching up (they are a bit harsh) but the base helps set him off. For all things Space Marine related, including painting suggestions, I recommend The Bolter and Chainsword
