You have done a great job
I like to stain wood with wood stain. You have to stain it before you glue it for the best effect. If you want to paint new wood. Use light yellow tans. I like to finish it with Min Wax golden oak. The whiskey barrels were done this way.The small sheds were built with stained wood strips.I used the golden oak for those too.The boat and shingled roofs were cast so I had to paint them black first. I used the darkest brown craft paint I could find. I dry brushed it over the black.I added some tan to the mix and dry brushed it again. I wanted it to be dark so I used Walnut stain for the finish. I think you should use light colors with your ruin because there is already so much gray.

tips where I can buy the right paints are most welcome too.
In the USA any hard ware store chain store or craft store will have Min Wax. Many have there own brand of craft paint as well. Try to find the new water based stains if you can. The Stain in the plastic bottles came from Joe Ann's Fabrics. Most of the craft paints are good enough for terrain . The large bottles cost less than a bottle of GW paint.
