really nice, but for the future use a sheet of paper for background and a lamp (preferrably the one beside the door 8)) behind the camera to see the models clearly :-D and in that match... i got my butt kicked for not paying attetion to the situation

I think he is really nice.. gave me the taste to start diggind out my Aragorn king of Gondor and finally get him painted (i have to much to do nowadays :dizzy:

anyway back to topic

I think in particular his face is really nice and reminds me a lot of Aragorn, though it might be a little light IMO.

You might consider giving the white tree another coat as i think some other color is showing through a little.. but mabye thats just the picture
Hmm his beard seems a little small.. more like he forgot to shave for a few days..

Oh one last thing.. correct me if i am wrong but i think that in the movie his cape was red on the front and black on the back..or not?

Anyway sorry for the critical post, i couldnt do it any better myself....

Yep I agree I think i could work on the face a bit, including the beard. I never realized that his cape was black at the front, but in my opinion I think I'll keep it that way, otherwise I think it will look too black in the front.. If you look at the pic & imagine it black as well. I will work on the tree there as well, it looks rather metallic don't it?

Criticism is always good! We learn from our mistakes :)

Good that you took my critism with smile! 8)

I think you might have misunderstood... the cape is black
on the back and red in front.

I agree however, it will look a little dark.. mabye i should consider the same thing on mine...?

Here's an update of the church wall, I'm afraid there's not been much progress, for it's a slow, time consuming job making molds.

So no leaks appear

Cardboard in the middle so it gives some space to allow the original wall out of the mold once plastered.

I think you should do an article on this. You have taken the time to photograph each of the stages it will turn out well.

Aragorn looks pretty good.
I really like the face
You might want to add another layer of brown to the belt.
And the cloth could be done a bit better ( for as far as i can see some of the highlight are a bit off)

I can't give you much comments on the mould as I've never tried it myself.
But it's a very brave thing to put that beautifull wall in that stuff without knowing if you'll ever see it again ( in one piece) :yay:

Keep us updated. 8)

It is a beautiful piece. Even if the original breaks he will have a nice mold.
I forgot to mention, save a master cast in case you need to ever make a new mold. They dry out and tear over time. Your miss cast will make good rubble.

I do not think that there is any danger of that. Soon the topic will be stain glass windows. Have you poured the back up yet?

yep that's in. I've added some sand in with the pollyfila as well to thicken it on the last layer so that it doesn't use up so much. It'll take a while to dry out, but I'm afraid I'll be away till Saturday so I won't be at home.

Here's an update on my Helm's Deep, sorry I haven't been working on it much. Soon finished, and then it will be a fortress worthy of Rohan. Any comments, tips, criticism is most welcome.

The causeway has been bricked and painted, along with one side of the deeping wall. The other side will be done soon enough. I'm afraid the little battlement things (yes, that in your face piece of foam) is still not done yet.

I'll need to do something with that grey bit, I ran into a bit of a problem there. I used some filler stuff and I'm not able to carve in bricks.. should I just paint over it anywho?
Image

Question; As you can see, the mountain & front part are different colors. One is quite a bit lighter than the other, should i change this or leave it? I think I have grown used to it over time.

*Update on church molds soon also*

It looks very good! 8)
The gate might look better with some weathering though; it's quite bright compared to the rest of the castle.

Keep up the good work! :)
